Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

WE finally got the rest of our stuff delivered today!!! BUT last time they delivered they told us they would deliver everything that was on the floor in their store that we ordered. Well our tall dresser should have gotten delivered but didnt. We told the delivery guys that maybe it will be on the next load of stuff that they had to order. WEll guess what YUP didnt get delivered today. The guys are outside calling the store to find out whats up with it. Once again i paid ALOT for my furniture and had to wait 2 months to get the stuff that had to be ordered and I STILL DONT HAVE IT ALL GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will let you know their excuse when they tell me

DollLikeDeceptions --- 13 years ago -

lol I learned my lesson with Ashley when we ordered two bedroom sets from them. We walked the store for over an hour looking for a master bedroom set and a big girl set for my daughter. Had everything picked out, the girl told me the price then when we went to check out it was over 1200 more!!!
She never told me it would take FOREVER to get our furniture. I made a huge stink and forced them to deliver at least the matresses so we could have somewhere to sleep!

The latest with them is I have the Ashley Antigo collection tables in my house. I have the dining table, the coffee table set and the baker's rack. I wanted the sofa table to put our new tv on and she told me it would take 2 months to deliver!!! I called Nebraska furniture mart and they had two on the floor I could have for a little less then the price at ashley.

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

OMFG!! I will never order from Ashleys again thats all i got to say as much trouble as we have had with them!! They said the other dresser was never ordered. We told them EVERYTHING we wanted we never went over the recipt after we ordered because we assumed they got everything typed into their computer but apperently not. My husband said i should call and complain to a manager and tell them we ordered a complete bedroom set so we would both have dressers we wait 2 months to get our stuff to find out you guys never ordered 2 dressers you only ordered 1!!!! UGH

DollLikeDeceptions --- 13 years ago -

we had an issue when our furniture was delivered too but I can't remember what it was. I just remember walking around with the receipt for what felt like MONTHS!
I swore them off too but decided to give them a call about my sofa table since it was an ashley table. I couldn't believe when the girl told me "oh we have one in the store you can come look at" Why the hell would you think I would drive all the way to manhattan to look at a table that matches ALL OF THE FURNITURE IN MY HOUSE?? lol

Brianna --- 13 years ago -

I had a living room set I liked at Ashley and I took a photo of it. I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart, showed the salesperson the photo and she found the exact same Ashley furniture in their showroom. I ordered it, saved $1500 plus, they waived the tax, I spent $30 for delivery, and I had it within 10 days. A piece got rubbed during transport and they left it with me and within a week they came back and swapped it out for an identical piece. Meanwhile the Ashley salesperson kept hounding my phone trying to sell it to me and I told them I got it at NEB Furniture Mart for a lot cheaper. They told,me that NEB does not sell Ashley. Really?

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

LOL Ya im sure if we looked around we would have probably find furniture cheaper. Its just when we walked into Ashley's the night we did find everything we were looking for. So instead of going to different furniture stores in manhattan we just settled with Ashley's. Like i have said in my previous posts we were going to go through the military club for furniture but it was going to be the same price for about half the furniture. So in my mind it think we did good. Just dislike that it took 2 months and we were not told it was going to be that long and dislike that they didnt order all the furniture we asked for.

They do have that dresser that we want but 1 we cant get it till monday when we get paid they will give us a 20 percent discount for the troubles we have had but its still 473 dollars after tax for the fricken dresser. my husband said he would have to think about it. I mean we have enough dresser space with the 1 plus our night stands have 3 draws each so thats 6 more draws but If we were to ever need more dresser space we would have a hard time trying to match a dresser with our furniture if we dont get it.

DollLikeDeceptions --- 13 years ago -

You sound like me. When we moved on post we got all new furniture. My sister kept telling me to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart but we ended up just looking around Manhattan. We found stuff we liked and figured it would just be easier then driving to KC for furniture...NEVER AGAIN! lol

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

lol Well rather we buy the other dresser im leaivng it up to my husband. I have seen pictures of the inside of the duplex type homes on post in germany and if we get the duplex style and not the stacked style i dont think we would be able to fit another dresser in there becuase the master bedroom is SMALL!!

notsue --- 13 years ago -

Notice they are happy to take your money quickly, but drag their feet on getting you what you paid for...

Lesson learned, make sure to ask when I can have item in my home and if they dont tell me "tomorrow" then I'll go somewhere else. I would never wait however long some of you guys have waited for stuff... when I go out and buy something its because I want it now.

Tee C --- 13 years ago -

When I buy furniture I give them 3 weeks to have it at my door step, and I make sure to pay with a credit card. After that time period, I give them one courtesy call to see what their deal is, then I contest the charge on my card and get my money back. If they have my money but I don't have the furniture, there's definitely something wrong with that picture. That's why the Jennifer Convertibles are all going out of business; biggest bait and switch scam in the history of history.

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

So my husband decided he really wanted the dresser. So we ended up buying it!! But they were going to charge us 50 dollars to deliver it. I was like WHAT why the heck should we have to pay for delivery when it was suppose to be on our 1st shipment. We told them we would come pick it up but it wouldn't be today it might not be till monday (Have to find someone at work for him to barrow their truck. They said that was fine. HECK NO I'M NOT PAYING THEM TO DELIVER!!!

We have had problems with Asley's for over 6 months now.. We got a sectional, part of it broke, so you could not "open" the recliner.. (We took out the Warranty) We go back in and they tell us it has been discontinued-- Ok!! Find the part to fix it!! Today I Finally had all I could handle and they said NOBODY had talked to them about the problem! ugh! We got papers to turn it in to be fixed!! (We have talked to them 3 time by going in to the store- today I talked to the manager!).. Not a happy camper!!

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

My husband said if he wanted to push the issue and get free delivery he would have talked to the manager and told them all the issues we have had with our order but he would rather just by pass that and go pick it up himself. We dont plan on having to buy furniture again but if we ever do i'm not going through them thats for sure!!

We are having an issue with the dining room table and chairs we ordered from them... we ordered them in feb and was told it would not be until april 13th to be delivered... the hold up is with the chairs... so ok... well on the 16th they called me and said it would not be until May sometime now... so they gave me 5% off and free delivery.. I just hope come may they dont call yet again... we will see...

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

We have all our furniture but never agian!!! lol Good luck im sure they will come up with some excuse.

Tee C --- 13 years ago -

PWoaR, that seems like an awfully long time to wait. What reason did they give you for it taking so long? Even if their main warehouse that contained the items was on the east coast, 2 months to get it from there to here is unreasonable. Do they tell you about the wait before or after the money exchanges hands?

proud wife of a retiree --- 13 years ago -

They said originally it was because the chairs were backlogged... then when they called, they said something about having problems getting this one and another table here... not really sure what the problem is... if they call again I am going to cancel my order and go somewhere else...I know crap happens, and its not the sales persons problem, but still....

Ahh, I see. Well, in my humble opinion every piece of furniture on their showroom floor that's backlogged should have a sign on it saying so. Any reasonable person that walks in to buy furniture isn't going to assume it isn't readily available or able to be shipped in quickly. It sounds like they do the same crap that Jennifer Convertibles does. That's madness.

proud wife of a retiree --- 13 years ago -

I totally agree Tee C... if there is such a back log that its out that far, it should be stated before you pay for it... not while in the process...

Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

I thought i was done dealing with ashley's. I have to call them for them to fix something.

Here is my dinning table.

http://www.ashleyfurniturehomestore.com/catalog/product.aspx?group=DiningRoomFurniture&category=DiningRoomKitchenDiningRoomTables&id=D193-35&spi=0&ref=search-t

As you can see the darker wood on the back of the chairs. On one of the chairs one of the dark peices of wood slides and its not suppose to GRR.

Please don't take this the wrong way (because I promise that I'm not being malicious), but can anyone please explain the hype about Ashley furniture to me?

To me, Ashley furniture is like Nike shoes--big in name but not necessarily in quality. In my nearly 20 years as a soldier and working for the Army, I can't tell you how many times I've heard people brag about how they got their furniture from Ashley. I don't get it.

My daughter's bedroom set is Ashley; I bought it because I liked the aesthetics and I didn't get it direct from Ashley but from another store. When I found out how much Ashley charges direct for the same set, I nearly fell over laughing.

Is it a prestigious thing to buy from Ashley, similar to the way some people believe buying clothing from certain stores is a prestigious thing? Because I don't get it. The quality of their furniture is no better than Nationwide Warehouse, and I don't understand the hype. Thanks.

proud wife of a retiree --- 13 years ago -

I don't think its anything like that.. at least not for me... there is a limited selection around here and I liked the table... I had some lazyboy furniture before the Ashley stuff I bought a few years ago and it didn't hold up any better... was very disappointed in it, which is why we tried something else.. I am beginning to wonder if any furniture is built worth a crap anymore!! lol way back in 1987 right after my son was born, we had gotten some furniture at a flea market that I think the guy made himself... at ft campbell... that lasted us for about 10 years... until my Akita chewed the cushions when we went home on emergency while in panama... I guess she was mad that we left her with friends to watch!

Silverkitten (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Tee C: I agree with you. My husband and I learned a long time ago to buy cheap good quality furniture. Not the pressed board stuff but real wood and only when it's on sale or cheap due to damage. Not much of our stuff matches and we don't care. Why?? Because the movers will always find a way to damage it, break it or lose it all together. Yes I know they have to give you some money for it but if I paid a lot of money for it that won’t make it better. So get stuff to get the job done and then save money to get really nice things when you’re out of the military and stop moving every 16 months.

Penny --- 13 years ago -

Ashley is the worst furniture store ever! Try Feldkamps in Manhattan or their sister store Midwest furniture in JC. The Manhattan store has a bigger selection though.
We bought leather furniture from them about over 2 years ago, something got on one of the cushions on the couch and they sent someone out 2 different times to try to get it out and didn't charge us a dime.

UGrewInMyHeart --- 13 years ago -

I have never been fond of Ashley Furniture (store or furniture itself). It's hard to find quality furniture (without paying an arm and a leg), but I guess it has become true when it comes to big items such as furniture especially you get what you pay for. I'm super cheap, but with certain things (like furniture) I've realized you can't always be cheap, because you'll be turning around and buying again sooner due to the quality.

Ya well we have never delt with a furniture store till now. When my husband got deployed the 1st time 04-05 we were just starting out. I was living with my mom during deployment so i wasnt worried about trying to buy new furniture or anything. But he ordered all our furniture online. And ordered black metal frames with glass tops. We have had that stuff for 8 yrs and have had 2 kids since then it was time for new furniture. And since we are moving to germany )which is another reason why we didnt want to try to haul glass furniture over there.) We went shopping for new furniture. The day we walked into ashley's like i said previously we found everything we were looking for in real wood thats why we settled with ashley's so fast instead of shopping around. We knew what our limit was and it was the same price we were going to pay through the military club and we got twice as much furniture. Ya im sure if we shop at different stores or different furniture ware houses we would have found other stuff we liked for maybe cheaper. But we knew exactly what we wanted so we settled for ashley's. But like i said I LOVE MY NEW FURNITURE but i will NEVER shop with ashley's again lesson learned.
