TexasMomof3girls --- 16 years ago -

This might help us with lack of filter to get to know people and not offend as much. lol My name is Rhonda (TexasMom on RYS)I have been a military wife for 22yrs in March. My husband has been in 23yrs. He is a Chinook pilot and I am a paraprofessional for Geary County schools. We have 3 girls that are 14,12,10 that keep me (I would say us but he is never home) extremely busy. My husband is in a unit right now that trains Reserve units to deploy to iraq but he is going to the active Chinook unit here in May. So that will make us living in Kansas for almost 6 yrs by the time he finally does retire. How that happened is beyond me. LOL So what about you?

Penny Lane --- 16 years ago -

Judith --- 16 years ago -

Hello, my name is Judith. ( JutzeHB on RYS) I have three children, Boy 18 yrs, Daughter 15 yrs, Son 14 yrs old! Married to my best friend and really love of my life for 18 yrs. , so Army wife and Brat (lol) for the same amount of years. My Husband is retiring this year after 24 years. I am from Bremen , Germany and arrived (this is funny as heck) here in JC on 18. of June 1993. We have been in Germany several times since then and are now stuck in Fort Riley or JC for that matter. My Hobbies are Music, Karaoke, Art, Painting and Nature! I am not working as of now, but am actively looking for a JOB- part time! I have a rescue cat cookie , about 6 years old and a Rescue Dog Bruno (dachshund Lab mix) also about 5 years old. I am a very outspoken and honest person- call me authentic- that is who and what I am ! And yes, when I speak , I sound like a northern Heidi Klum! Auf Wiedersehen!

PolarKitty --- 16 years ago -

I'm also a german Fraulein and i have been in the states for the last eight years. I consider myself a southern gal because i'm born and raised in the south of germany and also love the south in the states. My handsome hubby , also a southerner , is in the infantry for 15 years now and currently deployed , again. We have a six year old son who drives me sometimes nuts , but he's also the one keeping me sane. *lol* My other babies are my two rescue dogs. One is 8 years old and the other 5 years. In my free time i like to do the typical female things like shopping, going out to eat, reading and latley painting. Looks bad so far but oh well. It's fun and relaxing.

TexasMomof3girls --- 16 years ago -

I guess I need to add that I now have a 7yo Jack Russell Terrier and a evil diva cat that is 5. We tend to keep our animals for a LONG time. Judith...I do know where you could get a part time job...not a lot of money but they really need help...any school in the area is always looking for lunch room aides and recess monitors.

Southern_Belle --- 16 years ago -

My name is Kimberly(southern_belle on RYS) although my friends call me Kimmie. I am 32, I have been married to the love of my life for 13 years. We have one son who is 12. He is a handful but I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world! Yes he is very spoilt since he is an only!LOL I am a certified teacher and taught for about 6 years full time until hubby came full time army. We were in the National Guard before and came active duty in 2005. We were first stationed at Ft Campbell which I dearly miss. I was a full time sub there. I haven't worked since we moved here in June of 07. I am looking for a part time job, looking into completing my master's and thinking about having another baby! WHEW! I am currently trying to diet......somedays I am successful we wont discuss the other days!LOL My hobbies are reading..love dean koontz books and I love reality tv....most of it anyway. Ok so I guess that says just about everything about me. Oh and I have a mini daschaund named lucky who is 4. He helps keep me sane! My hubby just returned from deployment, he had back to back deployments.....so this is the first time in just a little over three years that he has really been home, I hope he gets to stay home for awhile.

~*BrinA*~ --- 16 years ago -

HOLA all!! My name is Sabrina, I am 24 years old, about to be 25 in April. I too like most of us here am an Army wife. Me and my husband met in Highschool, and have been married for 7 years, on July, 14th 2002. But we have been together for 7 years already. We had our first child on January 17th 2003, My husband was in Basic. After missing him so much, and him missing Hailie come into this world. When she was 10 months old I went to Korea. To the non command sponcerd part and we lived in Korean housing.. needless to say I was happy to be back to civilization when we left there in 2004. I have been in Kansas since Mothers Day 2004, I got pregnent again soon there after, and had my son Geoffrey March 19, 2005, ONE month AFTER my husbands first deployment to Iraq... Sooo.. he missed that too (lol). I had my FRG leader in the delivery room with me, and a friend. I would like to say that being in the military has made me ONE independant woman. My husband is deployed ONCE again.. and I am sure that it wont be the last time... He volentered for this deployment, and I said Okay.. GO FOR IT!! Currently I deliver newspapers to Ft. Riley and Ogden.. But that is really just because I am bored, just to pass the year away... I go crazy sitting in my house all day. I also sell candles, but that is more of just so I can get the discount on them... BUT I DO LOOOOOVVVEE thease candles..(not trying to pitch them to ya just sayin') I have 3 dogs, Chloe, Kiowa, and Mojo I rescued Kiowa from the shelter in Clay Center and found her on Petfinder.com. Chloe is Kiowa's Daughter. and Mojo, is a jerk!! LOL Chiuahua's have attitudes!! But hes really my baby, I got him because I wanted a little dog, instead of having another child. I am usually an easy going person. Always honest, and not someone who would step on someone else unless they diserved it. You get what you want out of this life and I dont think being angry and hurtful is something to abide by! There are days when it gets really hard for me, or I feel overwhelmed but usually it passes with the weather, and I am back on my feet doing stuff I love in no time. I love my kids and my husband with all of my heart and I wouldnt change anything about him, or our Army life for the world!! I just wish they would rotate our duity stations more because I have been stuck here for 5 out of our 6 years in the Military, and I would LOVE to go somewhere closer to Nevada!! Well, I think this is a great idea Mrs. Rhonda!!! Great way to break the ice.. 'why didnt I think of that'!!!?!? I think im done talking about myself now though, but if you want to know more then ask!! Im a pretty open person, sometimes shy.. but only because im carful who I am friends with!!!

Proud Cav. Wife --- 16 years ago -

Hi Ladies (And Gentlemen) My name is Tina, I am also Cav Wifey (attic treasures) on Riley yard sales. I'm 21 (but will be 22 in April). I have been married to my Cav Scout husband (Hence the name) for 2 years now. We are from the same home town in Ohio. I love Ohio with all my heart, and once our 20 year "Adventure" is over we will retire there. He as been in the army for 3+ years, and served all of them at Ft. Riley. I was married in December of 2006, and moved to this area in January of 2007. My husband left in February of 2007, and did not come home until April of 2008. It was horrible, but we are gearing up for round too. Such is 4th brigade. We have No children, but are going to start some fertility therapy soon! (any advice is welcome, and I have a ton of questions about this process) We have 3 dogs though, A beagle (Bridget) a Basset (Ruby) and a Yorkie (Charlie). They are my world right now. I work with CYS on post, in the FCC departments. I do love kids (Not in a creepy way though) I am easy going, and pretty laid back. I will help anyone that needs it, I have a very big heart. I feel the pain of every spouse that has a deployed loved one, and would do anything to help them out. If you ever need anything, let me know!! Other than that, I am a bit shy and I'm a txt'ing addict!!

Paul --- 16 years ago -

I'm Paul and I've lived in Junction City for 6 1/2 years. I work at a child care center but have bigger dreams of working for myself from the comfort of my home. Over the past few years, I have discovered that the internet is more than a thing for alleviating boredom! With effort and knowledge, the internet can be a great tool for developing and running a business. There are so many different possibilities for earning an online income that it can be overwhelming! I've started a variety of different pursuits in making money from home and have yet to see any significant income. I know it is possible and I am determined to make it happen. It's kind of tough though, when you have to "work for the man"! I'd love to help anyone else who has dreams of working from home as well. Just ask!

Rhonda --- 16 years ago -

I'd love to help anyone else who has dreams of working from home as well. Just ask! Really now? Why would you help someone else when you just stated you havent been successful? Yea that leads me to believe you arent very good at what you are attempting. Really go peddle your wares else where.

Paul --- 16 years ago -

Rhonda said: Really now? Why would you help someone else when you just stated you havent been successful? Yea that leads me to believe you arent very good at what you are attempting. Really go peddle your wares else where. I didn't say I am an expert. When pursuing anything that is challenging, it is helpful to have the support of like-minded people. Income is only a part of success. Even though I am not at the point of being able to support myself working from home, I have insight that others may value. Of course, not everyone will appreciate what I have to offer. I don't let negativity and discouraging words bring me down. Anyone who feels discouraged by negativity from others should read the following blog Are You A Garbage Truck? By Sarah Radford

By Sarah Radford If anything you are a salesman Paul. Maybe not a good one but you are a salesman. Have you tried selling cars? I bet you could make a lot of money doing that. And yes I am the Queen of Negativity, because I have got burned many times by salesmen. My naive self was taken from me years and years ago.

Candice --- 16 years ago -

My name is Candice (Former Soldier, Now Spouse on RYS). I have been married to my Air Defense Hubby for 2 years this June, but we have been together for 6 years this November. We have a beautiful boy, 2 years old, that challenges me everyday. He is very bright and on the fast track to better places. We have been in Kansas for over a year and as far as I can tell, this is not the place for a Florida-born girl. We rescued a puupy about 6 months old. Very adorable, blue heeler/rott mix. My hubby is deployed, my first with him and his third. He has been in the military for 13 years and we have 7 left to go. I work on post for Deploying Soldiers and love what I do, but my dream is to work full time as a Photographer, but I only have time to do it on the weekends, as I have very few clients.

Jennifer --- 16 years ago -

Hi everyone, I am the mom of 3 children, a 11 year old boy, a 8 year old girl, and a 18 month old girl. My husband is in the army and just returned from our first deployment. I have been here forever after coming here with my stepfather when I was 15. I like Kansas, but I am so ready to go somewhere else. I like to knit, crochet, and I just recently tried my hand at quilting. (It didn't turn out too bad)I can be kind of shy, so this site allows me to at least read other adult conversations.

Southern_Belle --- 16 years ago -

It is great to see a lot of ppl introducing themselves! Hello everyone! This thread was started just to intro ourselves to everyone.......please take gripes to another discussion thread. Thanks

Paul --- 16 years ago -

I work on post for Deploying Soldiers and love what I do, but my dream is to work full time as a Photographer, but I only have time to do it on the weekends, as I have very few clients. Don't give up on your dreams Candice! I know how tough it can be having little time because of other responsibilities. I'm in the same boat with pursuing my own business ventures. One day we will succeed!

Candice --- 16 years ago -

Thank you, Paul! I know one day I will be able to pull it off! I am just trying to find time doing something that I love to do. I love who I am behind the camera and I have never been told that I take horrible pictures! I love to capture other memories for them to remember for a lifetime! :D One day, you will be able to work from home when you get the time to do so. :D

Bear&Jo --- 16 years ago -

Hi. My name is Jodie but just call me Jo. We have 4 kids. My husband has been in for 10 yrs. He's infantry. I'm not good at writing paragraphs as you can tell...lol We live on base in a house that is to small for us..lol I'm usually quiet unless someone else talks to me. I love helping people out when I can. Hubby says that I'm tooo nice to people. But heck, that is how I was raised. I grew up in TN. And etc etc... I'm not used to introducing myself to anyone b/c almost everyone that I have met here has been really rude to me. So, I normally just keep to myself.

Angie33 --- 16 years ago -

Hi! My name is Angela and I'm 33. I have been married to my hubby now almost 9 yrs. We have two girls ages 12 and 4. We also have a schitzu named Yoshi that is just like one of the kids. We have been stationed here now almost 3 yrs and before that we were at Ft. Campbell for about 5.5 yrs. I fell in love with TN while we were there and most of my family migrated from south Florida to TN also. We live in Clay Center and have gotten use to the drive, it's about 30 minutes or so, but I'm still not a big fan of Kansas but figure that I will suck it up and deal with it because I know it won't last forever! My husband works on the Apache Longbow helicopters and I couldn't be more proud of everything that he has accomplished in his 9 yrs in the army. He's a career army man and I totally back him on that! Other than that, I am currently a stay at home mom because the jobs around Kansas don't pay enough to justify paying the high cost of childcare and I would basically be working to pay childcare at this point so for now I'm a stay at hom mom. That's about it!

Angie33 --- 16 years ago -

Well, I'm off to Topeka today so hopefully the weather won't be too brutal but just wanted to say Have Great Day, Everybody and will chat back soon tommorrow!

Angie33 --- 16 years ago -

I am a stay at home mom and in the process of becoming a reigstered home daycare. My husband is 27. He is a Supervisor at the Manhattan Recreation Dept. he runs the Soccer Programs, t-ball and some adult sports. After his 8-5 job you can find him out Officiating High School Sports, I believe this is more of his passion then a job to him. We were married Last sept. on the Generals Baseball Field where my Husband used to play High School Baseball. we are not military but locals, Although I dislike JC it is my home and I have some kinda of stupid emotional attachment to that damn ghetto town lol! We currently live in Manhattan and just purchased our first home almost a year ago. We are a young, full of life, down to earth, Sports loving family.

Dionna --- 16 years ago -

Hi My name is Dionna. My husband and I are from Miami, Fl(born and raised). We have a 4 year old daughter and 5 week old son. I have been with my husband for 11 years, married 9 years. He is a medic and has been in the Army for 9 years. We are hoping to get stationed somewhere on the east coast to be closer to family.

*Shay* --- 16 years ago -

Hey, I guess I should be nice and introduce myself too *drumrolls* ;) Well my name is Michaela (pronounced Mee-Shay-La, not McKayla because my husbands family already has one....lol) also called Shay. I'm 22, german and thai and came to the US on May 3rd of 2008. I'm married to my wonderful hubby dubby since August 15th, 2006. We have two kids together. Royal, in his terrible 2's and our 10 week old daughter Alayna. Daddy is currently deployed with 299th and was lucky to come home for leave the day before our daughter was born. I work for the JC animal shelter and LOVE my job, we have two dogs, Sloan our Boxer mix (1 year) and Champ, our Miniature Pinscher (1-2 years). I stay pretty busy working, taking care of our household, the kids and the dogs but if I find the time to do something different I like to get around and get to know lots of people. I'm easy going and loud, a goofball and sometimes a little crazy but that's okay...lol...I love to take my kids and dogs roller blading if the weather allows it (just take a look outside your window and you know what I'm talking about). I'm a little neat freak and love to take care of myself but not a girly girl at all. I don't mind getting my hands dirty and growing up with my dad (who I love to death) and going through a very difficult time before I met my husband made me the person who I am today... mature, honest, caring and open minded. I'm in loooove, well my neighbors call it obsessed, with my YuYu (my GMC Yukon...lol) and I can't wait to get a race bike to call it my new baby!!! That's pretty much it, any questions, don't hesitate to ask...I'm open and stand up for myself if I need to, but always keep it real. ;)

*Shay* --- 16 years ago -

Oh and did I mention....we are Michigan fans! GO BLUE!!!!! lol

Lucky "7" --- 16 years ago -
