Can someone having gone through the experience please tell me, how does it work when you choose to relocate your family off post?*
Once you give notice to Corvias (Picerne), what happens with the BAH that is regularly funneled over to them? For example, if I give notice on the 1st of the month, the following month, will our BAH be DD into our bank, so we have the proper funds to pay our new house payment?
Just as importantly, I am anticipating a whopping moving cost, but maybe someone can ease my worries a bit. How much (on average) has it cost folks to move a 4 bedroom with DIY and/or hiring the big guns to professionally (and insuredly) move household goods?
Thanks in advance, guys.
*Looking to move off post; Manhattan Westside distance wise.
I can tell you that you pay your rent in arrears to Corvias. So, if you move out the 30th of the month you will have your BAH taken the 1st to pay for the previous 2 weeks. Then you won't owe anything the 15th. It confused the heck out of me at first, but I got it. If you were to move out the 7th of the month then BAH is taken the 15th too. They will refund you any portion that you didn't owe minus damages within 30 days.
I spent right around $271 with Penske last week for having their 26 foot truck for 2 days. I had a 4 bedroom house move. But that's all I can speak too cost wise. :)I didn't opt for insurance and I rented 24 moving blankets. Hope that helps.
Its been awhile since we moved off base but When we moved out housing told us there they are paid a month behind. We moved out march 1st 2011 our march bah went to febs rent. And in April we got a refund check after they took whatever they needed for the damages and the 1 day of rent for march ( march 1st which was like 30 some or 50 some dollars) but we had that refund check mailed to us and had it in hand by middle of April
