Looking for movin boxes if ya have some and, pack paper....
Also i have a ton of books that if someone wants let me know....

Tee C --- 12 years ago -

Don't know if they're still available because it has been a while, but we got our boxes from WalMart. Don't go inside and ask the stockers; all they have is tiny ones that won't hold anything. Drive around back (allllll the way around back) and you'll see two dumpsters. The one on the right has boxes, tons of them. My husband and I just loaded up my truck and car with them once a day for about 5 days and we had enough boxes to move over 11,000 pounds of stuff. Remember, don't go to the back dock; go alll the way around to the back of the store :).

TeeC did you have to ask anyone for those boxes? The walmart I worked for at our previous duty station would run people away and even prosecuted a few for theft for taking boxes from their dumpsters. As a manager we were only allowed to tell customers to come in the evening to get boxes, as they will break down and bundle the ones on the floor. Because our wal mart would recycle them and get paid for them. Even the ones in the dumpster. So when someone would take them with out asking they would either be yelled at or have the police called on them depending on the manager who was working at the time.

Drive around the new neighborhoods on post. That's what I did when we were thinking about moving, I got a bunch of boxes and packing paper.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

I am going to drive around when i get back on post and see.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

I think that is silly if you dumpster dive and get in trouble for it.
I bet you if someone got arrested for stealing trash they could easily get off those charges. I know i would take it as a challenge and fight something silly like that.
Besides i am not trying to offend but walmart is down right tarded on some of their crap.
And the walmart cheer and morning meetings they have out on the floor is stupid. If,i see one i usually go stand and listen once i even raised,my hand and asked a question...i took the manager by surprise. They only do it that way so customers think walmart employees are team players...but their full of poo ask one something and they have no answer. Ask the second one something they have no answer. Then you have to hunt down what u need on your own.

MissAttitude --- 12 years ago -

When I worked for wal mart,we would give boxes to customers at night while stocking the shelves. I know we were told at our wal mart if we saw anyone at the dumpsters to remove them and tell them they are trespassing. Due to insurance reasons our wal mart did not want any one dumpster diving or even walking around behind the store. So people would just ask for boxes and we would happily give them the boxers providing they were ones that we couldn't get money back out of.
As for the cheer Sam Walton actually introduced it to his employees back in the 70's to motivate his employees.
And not ALL wal mart employees are full of poo as you put it, some really know their job and are very helpful. I know I was

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

I didnt mean to say all i apologize. I was typing late and frustrated. I am sorry.

MissAttitude --- 12 years ago -

Its OK I was just saying not everyone was like that. Alot are though lol did you make it back up here yet?

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

Nope i am stuck here. Wonds were to bad to drive in pulling trailor. Leaving first thing in morning.
Now i gotta worry about tornadoes eating me here. my mom has a ton of yorkies so i am gonna choose one and call it toto. I like to be prepared.....haha

MissAttitude --- 12 years ago -

LOL Well hopefully yall dont get any tornadoes. Did you buy the trailer off of the one guy you said you were trying to get?

jlstough --- 12 years ago -

Do you have to drive through the Spring River/Hardy area on your way back? I know I lived about 4 hours deeper into Arkansas than you guys but it's a tricky drive in the dark, especially with this weather. You guys be careful when you head back through!

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

No i am bringing back one of my families trailor. that person never answered me and i had cash in hand.,oh well....
No i leave here bergman, hit branson, springfield, kc,topeka then there.
They had some people without power. Rain finally let up.
I would have headed back today but,its me and two dogs alone. Oh and my handy dandy pistol. No way am i traveling alone and getting caught with my pants down. Always preped for the worst pray for the best. Lol.....

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

Its snowing there i pray that the snow doesnt slow,me down though....i hate traveling this time of year i dont mind summer...but these months bother me. I love seeing my family, but i have so much to do there. And now i go back there and i am going to be hit with a,life changing thing. I just want to know when i finally get a rest and peaxe and everyone around me is happy and calm...i have a lot goingvon. And this drive is gonna be nerve racking....to much alone time on my hands.

jlstough --- 12 years ago -

Ohh, I see. We have to go through Wynne, Jonesboro, Hardy, Mammoth Springs, and then Branson, Springfield, KC, and Topeka. Last time we drove it my husband missed his exit on the toll, added an hour onto our trip and had to hit the back roads. Ended up in a deserted little city that only had one blinking traffic light and a convenience store.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

Man that town sounds like bergman....i bet you were talk of the town for weeks.. strange car comming thru and a woman who had all her own teeth...haha

The WalMart boxes (that come directly from WalMart distributors) are marked on the sides with "WalMart--Return for Refund"; those boxes are normally not put out because they get money for them. They put the other boxes in the dumpster out back. They are large, nice sturdy boxes.

One of the guys out back said that they didn't care if anyone got the boxes because WalMart is so cheap they'll try to squeeze a penny out of Abe Lincoln's nose, and if people pick them up then they don't have to pay so much to have trash service take them away. In Kansas dumpster diving is legal; here in Colorado, it isn't. If you're caught taking boxes out of dumpsters they can haul you off to jail. I personally think it's silly.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

I will be honest i love dumpster diving. I can take trash turn to class. When its trash night sometimes we drive around see what we can find. I call it night shopping.
Sometimes i put atuff on the curb just to see the other shoppers.
My husband wont do itvwith me cause he is a dud...haha
I want to go dumpster diving in dumpsters at the mall. Next warm night watch out. If you see two little feet kicking in the air and here a voice screaming they are stuck...It's me...hahaha
I STILL NEED BOXES...I am home now to. So if anybody has a lead let me know please. I will be checking out walmart within next day or two.

Brianna --- 12 years ago -

I did my first true dumpster dive awhile ago and walked away with some amazing finds. My hubby has no clue and he does not need to know. I normally would have been embarrassed, but I was tempted and it was broad daylight. I should curb shop on trash day, but it never works with my schedule, I am only looking for one thing in particular....either a full size headboard or a crib. I also need a vacuum, but that is not something I could take from a curb, it just grosses me out.
I wish I knew where there were some boxes for you....my neighborhood has been dry lately.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

Is the full size head board for a kid.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

I have a nice all wood full size bed but it sets close to floor. Its really for kids. my parents alept on it once and said it was no problem. But if you got something to swap u can look at it. Bed value if i sold for cash with no mattress would be about a 150.00. I paid a little ove 700 for it but its 3 yrs old.

Brianna --- 12 years ago -

Yeah for my little guy. He has mattress and rails. I am not sure if I have anything to tea at this time, I just got rid of all of my eBay inventory in January. Do you have anything you are looking for?

Brianna --- 12 years ago -

jlstough --- 12 years ago -

There is a rocking chair on the curb a few houses down from me that I've had my eye on, but then it went and snowed and I'm too shy to leave foot prints dragging the chair all the way down to my house :P trash runs tomorrow so I'm guessing it'll be gone.

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -
