I know it was quite some time ago, but some of you may remember when I said that many years ago (when my husband was going through his slob phase), that I would get so frustrated when he and my daughter would leave their things laying about that I resorted to stuffing it all in Hefty bags and hiding it. After that, I escalated it to simply throwing things in the trash. Well I haven't had to do that for a while...until this weekend.

A pile accumulated in a corner of the living room. I took one look, screeched, stuffed it all in a Hefty bag and threw it in the cleaning supply closet near the door that leads to the garage.

I had gotten over it until about 20 minutes ago, when I had the following conversation with hubby:

Hubs: Have you seen my lunchbox?
Me: Hunh?
Hubs: My lunchbox. Have you seen my lunchbox?
Me: The blue one I got for you? It's in one of the bottom kitchen cabinets, on the left side of the island.
Hubs: No, not that one. It's a camouflage lunchbox. I take it fishing sometimes.
Me: Hm. I don't think I've seen it...(pause)...unless it was in that big pile of CRAP that somebody left in the living room--like we're ANIMALS or something--that I threw in a Hefty bag and slammed in the back closet. (Smiles) But I know it wasn't in that pile, because you have too much love and respect for me than to leave your stuff thrown in a corner like I'm a danged maid who'll just come along and pick it up and put it where it SHOULD be, RIGHT (smiles harder, this time with all my teeth)?
Hubs: (looks afraid. Blinks. Walks away slowly).

I waited 10 minutes, and then I crept back downstairs quietly and peeked around the family corner that leads to the garage--just in time to see him trying to quietly slip the garbage bag out of the closet. Scared the crap otu of him, too. LOL! He said he was sorry, that he slipped up and he'd do better. Yeah. Sure...

Gotta love him :).
