I'm new to the whole shopping experience and need some serious advice. Where do all you plus size ladies shop for REASONABLY PRICED clothing around here? I'm a 18W in the waist.

I'm in serious need of a new wardrobe and am at a loss as to where to shop.

I don't shop Walmart because the jeans never fit me right. I'm more of a casual jeans and t-shirt person. I'm kind of a tomboy and prefer wash and wear items.

I honestly think I need a willing person to take me around town. Preferably someone plus size that knows what she's doing and won't mind training me in the ways of bargain shopping. I am in no way old fashioned and definitely leaving the kids at home!

Honestly its more difficult around here in my opinion to find plus size clothing that doesn't cost too much! I have never been able to find anything that fits be right at walmart. If you ever drive to Abilene you can go to Alco. I love there jeans, I can't think of the name of them but they are the more in style looking jeans. Also, whenever they have the spring or fall post wide yard sales I stock up on clothes, you can find a lot of lane bryant and other name brand clothing CHEAP!!!

Old navy sells plus size stuff online. I really like their clothes, and the sales are good, too!

I think Cato's has plus sizes and they have really good prices. I think there is one in JC.

janiedoer --- 12 years ago -

I have ordered from womanwithin.com, they have fairly good prices and I haven't had a problem returning things if they didn't fit. They have pretty good sales too.

Cato's is a great place to start. They are right by Walmart as you turn into the parking lot. They always have a ton of clothes on sale. If you can make it to Topeka, check out DEBS in the mall. They have a nice plus size section.

Sunshine247 --- 12 years ago -

Thanks ya'll!! I actually made it to Topeka today and ended up at a place called Branded on 21st. Awesome prices for name brand pieces. I got 3 pairs of jeans, 1 Capri, 4 casual shirts and 1 short all for $61 bucks!! I'm going back again next payday. I love places like that! The clothing is in excellent condition and I even found out that they buy your clothes too :)

I like CJ Banks as well.

JPaint21 --- 12 years ago -

I think there is a dress barn at the mall in manhattan. They have plus sizes and good sales. My mom does not like CJ Banks or Lane Bryant because she is short and their clothes are too long for her. Not sure if that's a concern of yours or not. She gets a lot of clothes at Kohls.

Sunshine247 --- 12 years ago -

Yes I'm pretty short! Exactly 5 feet. This makes it even harder for me to shop. Ya know how there's a Big&Tall? Well I think someone should open a Big&Short too. I'm taking a look at Kohls too. The only major problem I have is the cost of clothing. I absolutely refuse to pay near $30 for a pair of jeans! I'm a penny pincher :)

susanp68 --- 12 years ago -

Ha...too funny. I am exactly 5 feet short as well.

Silverkitten (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

How about small and short! I hate shopping in the girls department. I want to look 30 not 13. I guess none of us fit the body mold for clothing designers.

I am not Plus Size, I like to look at myself as FLUFFY!! :) Anyway I just went to Kohls in Salina and got a $60 pair of jeans for $14 and then a $50 pair of jeans for $17. I also love Old Navy their shirts fit me funny for some reason but I love their jeans!! I also like http://www.ashleystewart.com/ a little pricey but if you watch the sales you get some great stuff!! Best of Luck!!!

JPaint21 --- 12 years ago -

The nice thing about Kohl's is if you get a Kohl's credit card, they give great discounts and Kohl's cash. I get some really good deals there sometimes when I combine the discounts with the clearance items. Then I just pay the card off every month.

notsue --- 12 years ago -

I have that issue too, Silverkitten. I always find myself in juniors looking for classic styles instead of trendy crap. I'm in my 30s but wear a size 1 short jean. I also refuse to pay a ton extra to shop a special store that sells small people stuff.

MaMi2oNe --- 12 years ago -

I checked out Dress Barn today in Manhattan after hearing about it on here and I have to say I was not impressed at all. I didn't look around too much after I checked a few things out and prices and nothing really caught my eyes at all. Could just be my taste though. I don't see them being there very long at all. I do find some cute things at Cato's though sometimes, even though it's not my favorite place. But even Cato's is better in my opinion.

MissThe80s --- 12 years ago -

I am a petite shopper; but, whenever I shop my on-line clearances, the cutest leftovers are always Plus Size; including petite +. Try LandsEnd.com and LLBean.com; save lots of money and dress nicely. :D

Also, browse their on-line catalogs until your's arrives in the mail!!

I just discovered kohl's this weekend....and I got Kohl's cash without having a card there. Lane Bryant outlet in Legends in KC is nice. There is a regular Lane Bryant in Topeka, but they are outrageous. The outlet has pretty good prices. Cato is hit or miss. They have good prices but some of their clothes are ugly. I use to go to JC Penny but I just can't find anything there that I like any more. Maurices is another place that sells plus sized clothes, but in my opinion they are far too exspensive for the quality.

notsue --- 12 years ago -

My mom has been a big Kohls fan for a while, I have yet to live close enough to one to shop there. Kohls online has not excited me enough to make the trip.
