...when people post items on bookoo or Craigslist and lie about where they got them?

Someone just posted a bench on bookoo and said they got it from World Market--and I know for a fact that it came from American Furniture Warehouse and cost all of $58. There is nothing wrong with AFV, but I think it's crappy to try and deceive someone to get a higher price.

Then there's the lady who posted a comforter set for 500 bucks because it was "barely used in a guest room and cost $800 brand new from Bloomingdale's". Sorry sister, but Wal-Mart had that set for $139 for years before they discontinued it. Try again, lol.

Yes!

I see stuff all the time claiming its from Pottery Barn and I always wondered if they were just saying that to be able to ask more for it... like that name comes up way too often considering there isnt one around here and the place is stupid expensive anyhow...

I laugh when people say its from IKEA like that makes it better, Might as well say it POS press wood with toxic paint.

Companies/Names That Are Commonly Dropped in Craigslist and Bookoo Ads:

- World Market (nice store with lots of eclectic, fun items--but their merchandise is more high-end-priced than high-end-quality)
- Bloomingdale's (great stuff, but if I pay that much for something from Bloomie's used, I'll fork over the rest and buy it new)
- Macy's (great store, but it isn't Saks; everything from Macy's 'ain't' expensive or high-end, so 'I bought it from Macy's' means nothing if the original price was $300 but you got it on sale for $40)
- Pier 1 (I love the store--really--but it's also overpriced)
- Pottery Barn (same deal with being overpriced; plus, I personally think a lot of their 'antiqued' and 'distressed' furniture looks like something you'd find at a thrift store for a fraction of the price)
- IKEA (yes, it's a fun store and their meatballs are delish--but the truth is their furniture is made to look good, not last. So why would anyone pay extra for a 'look' or a name? Even Wally World sells IKEA-looking furniture now, lol.)

Frankly, I don't care where it was bought unless it's from a company that is known for high quality and is in great shape. Unless of course you bought it, covered it in plastic, immediately put it in storage, never touched it again and are selling it for a great price. If not, no matter where you bought it, it's still used

It kills me when people have "sales". Really? 50% off tonight only?

Yardsales certainly have changed since I was younger!

I have a house all full of Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and Macy's. When I change my decor or get rid of it I never price it as 'I paid $1200 for the Sonoma rug and it was barely used, so I am only asking $1000' I just want it gone and will sell it at a price to move fast. Pottery Barn is mostly all made in China, but it holds up well for an import. What really bothers me is the 'designer inspired' handbags people try to put an authentic designer price on and they claim it is 'real' and the buyer is left with a junky bag and hole in their pocket and the seller is laughing their way to the bank.

LOL, so just last night I showed my husband an ad on Craigslist for a sectional, and the seller's main blurb about it was that they, "bought it from Nieman Marcus!" Nieman Marcus? Where the few sectionals that they do carry start off at about 4G's? Hm. Anyway, my husband said, "Dang...that is one farted out sectional!" LOLLL.

Funny thing is (and this is the kicker) someone must have called her out on it because she re-posted the ad later on and lo and behold, then she said it came from American Furniture Warehouse. LOL. People really kill me...
