In McClellan we have had quite a few cars broken into in our section. Make sure to lock to your cars and homes at night!

~*Kandice*~ --- 13 years ago -

Yup I'm in Peterson and had my ipod taken from mine. Pretty sure it was some teenager. It has been quiet on my street for 3 years until they started moving everyone out for the new homes to be built and it seems its all gone to crap now...I feel like I live in Forsyth.

LovinLife824 --- 13 years ago -

It sounds like it was teens here too. Someone said they had a bunch of military gear in the back of their vehicle and it wasn't touched. Everyone knows some of that stuff can bring a good amount of money. It was just minor stuff taken. Cds, Ipods, etc.

~*Kandice*~ --- 13 years ago -

Yup I had left my wallet in my car and it was untouched. So they are also really stupid teenagers.

Amber --- 13 years ago -

we had a neighbors house that was attempted to get broken into...I guess a neighbor kid seen a kid with a red mohawk doing it. We live on Meade Loop

If I caught some kid in my house with a red mohawk, he'd better hope that he's a fast runner because if I get my hands on him that hair just might turn stark white from fear...lol.

Kids running around with no supervision. We dont have that here on my street...or we didnt. Peterson has been a quiet neighborhood until now.

oops
I thought you was talking about the posts a while back where some people had mentioned they had things stolen and they lived down in forsyth and they suspected kids going around getting things out of vehicles.

LovinLife824 --- 13 years ago -

Your wallet was untouched? That's crazy, but good lol. Obviously a little nervous and not really looking around the car. A red mohawk is too much of a dead giveaway lol. Some kids just don't think.

Yup. I was shocked because they could have done some serious damage. I totally forgot to grab it out of my car. I could tell they were just kids when I saw that my Ipod was gone and the wallet was good to go. We got a camera out now so if they come back I'll have their pretty little faces.

LovMySoldier --- 13 years ago -

Are these cars locked that they are breaking into? I dont understand how people can leave their cars and homes unlocked, i guess im too paranoid that someone will steal my stuff LOL I even lock my screen doors when I am home.
Its sad that kids have nothing else better to do during the summer.

I have thought about that. I'm such a dead sleeper that I don't hear anything at night. I sleep through storms and everything. My husband is jumpy though, so they must of not been making too much noise. I wish these houses had censored lights or something. I don't like leaving the lights on all night.

Brianna --- 13 years ago -

If they break into my house they will not be walking out on two feet! My truck was locked and they broke into it last year in Ellis Heights. They broke out the back window and took nothing. They dumped out the diaper bag I had and that was it. I never leave anything in my vehicle, not even parking quarters! I would have loved to have seen the disappointment on their face...diapers, wipes, and desitin!

~*Kandice*~ --- 13 years ago -

My car wasnt locked. The night it was stolen that day was a whirlwind of crap and it totally slipped my mind. The one time it isnt locked someone messes with it. It must be bad though because another house on my street has a "Smile you're on Candid Camera" so they must be having problems too.

iRdGaFBoo --- 13 years ago -

See, alot of times people think because they are on a military base that they are 'safe'. Idk how many times i have drove by even in the evening time and people leave their windows open!! Its crazy. Being originally from the projects- that, wouldve been an automatic stripping of the whole vehicle. I never leave my purse or anything of value in my car. I always lock doors and windows are up.
&& if ya ever see any suspicious, id say call the MPs/cops. Because alot of times if they are teens, their parents arent even aware of their kid.

~*Kandice*~ --- 13 years ago -

I would like to think as on post being more dangerous than off because of the false sense of safety...I think that would make it more likely for bad people to come here and take advantage of people and steal their crap. They have been vandalizing the houses that are empty on my street so I guess our neighborhood is now the hang out for all the delinquents.

a3074273uu --- 13 years ago -

If you live on Burnside Loop, did the MP's stop by your house yesterday to ask you about the break in's. They stopped by mine and asked if my car's were locked and watched me as I checked them. Just thought it was weird. We have lived here for 3 years and have never had any trouble until last month when someone took a carton of cigarettes out of the truck but left the change and CD's.

wifey9089 --- 13 years ago -

It's so interesting to read this thread since my DH comes home and tells me some stuff about it. I never realized just how small this post was until people on here started describing things that were stolen exactly how my husband described it.

That said, I hope they catch whoever is doing this. Those of you with cameras out, you're awesome. The MP's can only make an arrest if someone is actually "caught" so keep it up!

I'm surprised to hear that. I didn't think cameras were allowed to capture folks coming and going in public places. It certainly wasn't at our last installation. I think every home should come with a camera in the doorbell/entryway. Our Parish office has this feature; you enter only if buzzed in (like in European homes). c:

~*Kandice*~ --- 13 years ago -

I dont frankly care if its allowed or not haha. If you steal my stuff and you are stupid enough to come back and I get your picture then I will. Its better that I have a camera up for a picture instead of sitting outside with a shotgun waiting haha.

wifey9089 --- 13 years ago -

I don't think it counts as a public place since it's happening in people's driveways.

But I bet it would at least let the MP's know for sure who it is and then they could catch them themselves, even if the secret camera pics couldn't be used as evidence.

LovinLife824 --- 13 years ago -

The ones that I know of were all unlocked. I'm with you! I lock everything. Even if I'm just running into the shoppette quick, my car is locked. We don't keep anything in our car besides sunglasses. Not even spare change, nothing. I don't want my car to be a target, because they see something they want.

If you live on Burnside Loop, did the MP's stop by your house yesterday to ask you about the break in's.

I only saw one MP walking around. He just stared at me lol. He didn't ask me about the break ins at all. A few neighbors came over to ask though.

wifey9089 --- 13 years ago -

So my hubby came home last night and told me they got a call about a car break-in in progress. Since they've been trying to catch the thieves for so long, almost everyone on shift went to the call.
Turns out, it was just a guy cleaning out his own car and his neighbor thought someone was breaking in.
Can you imagine if you were in his situation and just about every MP on post showed up to arrest you? I probably would've crapped my pants. As it is, I just about died laughing and knew I had to share with you guys.

MangaIsLikeCrack --- 13 years ago -

Well at least the neighboors was being semi aware of the situation...

toriT --- 13 years ago -

Haha that poor guy!

LovinLife824 --- 13 years ago -

That's terrible! Glad people are on the lookout though!
