my husband just started his 10 month of deployment. i asked our frg if they had idea when they would be returning and they said no clue. however my friends husband deployed the same day as my husband but different units and they gave them the week they will be returning. i just was wondering how far in advance did you get an approx date (not exact time and date) 

It changes. I've never been given a date when he would be back. I would just count 10 months from now and know that it could change. Heck...there were times they didnt tell us until the week they were coming home...they just never know. 

10 months from now? you mean for a total of a 20 month deployment? 

Expect 12 months. ( Obviously). We never had a date until about a week to two weeks before they came home. That was the estimated date. We never knew the final date till 24 hours before they were home. 

oh i know its going to be 12 just wondering how some units already know their redployment date 

When my husband came home in march we knew at 10-11 months the group ours would be on and a aproximat weeks time frame such as they would be home between feb 28-march 7th some time. and then the aproixmate time frame shrunk from there as the time got closer. Our frg leader is awsome tho and is on top of those things even if it means putting things aside to make phone calls to everyone.

Well actually at 9 months we got an email of how many groups there were and the name of each group and their time frames. WE just didnt know what group ours was on. But that could also be becuase our 1s group came back right before valentines day. which was the 11 month mark.

Our 1st deployment at riley it was a 15 month deployment our frg sucked. I was just like you wondering when my husband was going to come home So glad i didnt have to go though this, this past time. Also the 1st deployment here was when we had the ice storm. I wasnt contacted by someone from the frg until the day my power came back on to tell me that i could go to the barriks. Im like seriously if i would have known that i would have went there instead of over to ellis we had a total of 4 families in a 2 bedroom house in ellis. So ive been in your shoes with frg's not being so great. 

Our unit is basically the same way, ive had to pull teeth to get any info and all I have gotten in the past 10 months were 4 emails 3 were about the free christmas trees. I have no idea when my husband is coming home. Hopefully in 2 months 

They could be on their way home and the date still change by a couple days. I just give up even counting until they are leaving the last stop before home. Even then, the time is NEVER right. Deployment is so full of unknowns...
