What cell phone company do you use? We have Verizon and have no problem with their actual service but this month we have been getting crazy calls and text messages ALL the time. I mean we have 500 talk minutes and 250 text for the past 2 years and now this month there have been 900 minutes used up and 686 text, my next bill is going to be 268 dollars! When I called Verizon said there's nothing we can do but change your package and up your minutes and text.
These aren't normal text they are like, are you feeling hot go to this website or do you want a pay day loan text back blah blah, and the numbers that call are like 785-076-974 or 007-985432768689
they aren't even real numbers. Im so aggravated. I'm switching carriers next month. We have a Samsung Droid phone and love the phone just hate Verizon lol

Tee C --- 14 years ago -

I have AT&T; I pay about $50 a month for free carrier-to-carrier minutes (plus 500 talk minutes to non AT&T plans), and 800 texts per month. I also have the data plan for internet but I barely use it.

There should be something you can do to block texts from people you don't know; for all you know, Verizon could be feeding your number to spammers in hopes that you'll up your plan. You just never know; I've heard some really shady things from Verizon customers about their bills.

We have Verizon and we HATE them. We either get weird calls or our texts and calls don't go through and our phones are junk for being as expensive as they are. We had ATT before we got here but switched because they didn't have good reception here. As soon as our contract with Verizon is up we are cancelling.

nanaof3 --- 14 years ago -

i have att and i get unlimeted text and unlimeted moblie to moblie doesnt matter who the other partys carrier is

LuvMyFamily --- 14 years ago -

I'm not sure what company to go with, like I said I have never had bad service or reception with Verizon, just they have p!ssed me off. When I asked them if they or I can block the numbers they said no there's nothing that can be done. Some of the crazy text messages are from Verizon, like this weeks Verizon's top picks for movies are ...

us cellular is good as well we have unlimited text, nights and weekends starting at 7, a data plan thats great and us cellular to us cellular is free as well as all incoming calls. there isa us cellular place on washington in jc.

okiedoke --- 14 years ago -

SPRINT.

The Unlimited Everything Data plan has saved my life. Especially the unlimited calls to ANY cell phone. That way I don't worry about night/weekend minutes.

ostera15 --- 14 years ago -

We have Verizon too and have never gotten any strange texts or phone calls. But if it helps in most cases when you get a text send a text that says STOP back to the same number and it should stop them, but you will have to do it for every number you get texts from.

We have AT&T and have unlimited everything. Love it. We dont get weird text messages or anything like that. We even get service on the hill. I like them.

❤Married2aFox❤ --- 14 years ago -

we have at&t alsoand love them. get great reception everywhere on post. we have the 1400 minute plan with unlimited text, mobile to mobile and internet. there are 3 phones on our plan including 2 smart phones. our plan comes with a-list which is where you can pick any 10 numbers (land lines) and all calls to or from those numbers don't use any of our minutes. we also get to roll over any unused plan minutes each month. we've had them for years and won't use any other company.

Roxyy --- 14 years ago -

My husband has Boost Mobile. The reception isn't that great depending on the phone, we had a very basic phone and could not get reception anywhere but we upgraded and haven't had a problem with reception since. It's $50 a month for unlimited everything. Unless you get a blackberry, then its $60 for unlimited everything. And if you put it on automatic payments then after three months its $30.

We have verizon also and have not had any problems with our bill... dont care for the phone i have sometimes.. will go back to a motorola as soon as we are able to..

My4Kids --- 14 years ago -

We have Verizon after switching from AT&T (which I hear is better here now then when we first moved here). We have been very happy with the service. We have 3 lines, 1400 minutes, 10 friends/family numbers (call unlimited anytime for free..you choose which numbers and they don't have to be Verizon and can even be landlines),unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited text and data on 2 lines (an iPhone and a Droid) and unlimited text on the other (Old flip phone) and we pay $191.00 a month. We do not have a land line and use our cell phones for everything.

As far as the odd calls and texts, be aware that many companies have been hacked which includes personal information like cell phones. Lots of people are having issues with email, phones, credit cards etc. I wish I had a list of companies but I have gotten several letters/emails from places like Apple, Google, XBox. I know there was big news about Sony not long ago as well. I have gotten a couple of random calls and texts lately similar to that as well but cannot track down where they came from. I blocked one number that kept calling last week asking for someone named Henry. I changed all my passwords online, changed all my security settings on my email etc. just in case.

My4Kids --- 14 years ago -

we also get to roll over any unused plan minutes each month.

Be aware that these expire each year. When we had AT&T I got a huge bill one month thinking we had plenty of roll over (because at the time we had over 3000 rollover) and they told me that they expired the month prior. I had no clue they just took them like that without notice.

❤Married2aFox❤ --- 14 years ago -

yes you have to use your rollover within a year or they expire it's in the contract you sign when you set up the account.

LuvMyFamily --- 14 years ago -

im never getting a cell phone again

mommyto4 --- 14 years ago -

Wow after reading some of the prices I am so happy I am w sprint! 1500 min (unlimited mobile to mobile) and unlimited text net and everything else on 4 phones (2 are smart phones) and only pay 175 a month

Addie --- 14 years ago -

I have ATT but I have been having some problems with them, and will probably be canceling my services here soon, as we are leaving the country for an over seas PCS in less than 6 months anyway.

(They are too expensive, will not let us downgrade to a lesser talk plan although we hardly ever talk on the phone, and keep messing up our payments.)

I loved Sprint and would go back to them in a heartbeat if I could. My family has Verizion and they seem pretty happy with them. They love their family talk plan that they have. :)

Are we done yet --- 14 years ago -

I have tmobile which i have heard with in the next year At&t are buying them out so i guess i will have at&t soon. Anywyas i love tmobile. i pay 130 (well thats the bill after tax and whatever) for 2 lines net on one line and unlimited talk & text.

okiedoke --- 14 years ago -

I was talking to my mom who has Verizon last night and she's like "I have to call you back. My minutes" I started laughing. Haven't heard anyone say that to me in a while.

I was talking to my sister and she is like "I'm going to add you to my circle". I told her EVERYONE with a cellphone is in "my circle" lol

We pay 129.99 a month for two lines w/ smartphones. Not including the military discount. But after all the taxes and crap, it's still around 123 I think.

BUT if I was back in my hometown, I'd have to drop Sprint because their reception SUCKS where I used to live which is why we got rid of them back then.

LuvMyFamily --- 14 years ago -

ive never had a problem with verizon ever until this month and today i finally decided to answer one number and they said this is so and so from iraq communications calling in regards to your husband

Michelle84 --- 14 years ago -

I just thought Id let you know my husbands phone was getting odd texts like that a few months back and we finally found out it he had previously tried to get free ring tones on the net and it said enter your phone number and you will get 5 free, well anyways his number must have spread like wildfire to multiple websites because he was getting off the wall stuff. He didn't have to change his number though....he just went onto the National DO NOT call list and any spammers could no longer text or call his phone or could be sued. Just a thought....
