ok so I am not trying to start any drama but I have a question.....why is it when someone posts a craft idea on RYS....like a week later there are more people making the same thing...??? 

lol they are for lack of better words (and back to the early 90's) bitters. dont stress. lol i love ur stuff. just waiting till probably after the holidays to get the bows and stuff for u. maybe around the 1st of the year. my daughters birthday is the 1st of january and cant seem to figure out what to get her since we buy them everything. 

@SoCal..lol glad you love my stuff....but I am not sure how much longer we will be in KS...Hubby is getting med boarded out....so just waiting on the paperwork to come back from Washington and then we are out of here...back to home sweet home..lol 

Simple answer - b/c people aren't creative enough to think for themselves so they steal someone else's idea. I saw this all the time when I was growing up and my mom would make crafts to sell at craft fairs. The craft fairs she went to pretty much had all the same people every weekend. There were many times we'd go to a fair and the very next weekend there would be at least 2 other people that were selling the same things as my mom but for a bit less so they would get all the business. It can be so frustrating. It's hard (and EXPENSIVE) to copyright/trademark a craft item so there isn't much you can do. I would just rely on repeat business and word of mouth to others about the quality of your items to keep you ahead of your "competition". 

That is what I can't wait for when I get home ...craft shows...WoOt! I have plenty of very happy customers with my items : ) 

lol well if ur still here or if we can afford it after groceries. we have a freind staying with us so its more expensive. blah. but hopefully I will get stuff from u. especially the hair clip holder. it would make my life easier 

because people are creative and make things differently than you might make them and it gives people a variety.. trust me im not trying to start drama either but im pretty sure you are referring to me with the bow holders and im sorry if it bothers you but i saw these a really long time ago and thought it would be fun to make since i stay at home all day. im not by any means trying to take away from your business.. they are completly different than yours. its not that i lack creativity because these are made by people all the time all over the united states. your creativity comes from making it different than someone elses. 

@Britny.....I am talking in general....it just seems funny that one person makes something and then all of a sudden people have the same idea and start making it....LOL cuz they just saw it on RYS the other day 

I was speaking in general terms also. I used to make craft items and baked goods to sell on etsy and others started making the exact same things for like 50 cents less and stealing my business (even tho I ordered some of their baked goods and they were NOT as good). I just gave up b/c of all the fees I was paying to not make much money. 

i understand you guys are just saying in general and i just want to say that i honestly just make the stuff for fun and mostly just do custom orders so i really dont care if anyone orders something or not. i just want you guys to know im not trying to copy anyone or steal any business.. 

I know how you feel...but the regulars on rys know who the original idea was. Even on craigslist there is a lady selling tutus and bows....I like how I sell one type of bow and you sell the adorable clips....it sucks but people see an idea, say oh I can do that and try to steal it...sucks but that's how it works....competitve pricing! 

But the WORD of MOUTH is what is going to make people want to buy from someone. So if you are the orriginal person, people if they love your product are going to talk about it :) Do you know how hard it is to try and get your name out there though too? I have had a bunch of trouble getting my candles to people. I wouldnt sell something I dont love, and If your heart is in something it will show in your work! So don't worry too much "WW" People will remember just like LMN said :)
