Okay so the day we moved into Colyer (we did a local move from Manhattan to be close since we only have one car)I had my music going so I could unpack and be motivated. It wasnt very loud at all because my daughter was taking a nap, it was around 1:00 pm. All of a sudden the doorbell rings. I open the door. "Umm, can you please turn down your music. My walls are shaking. We have had this problem with the last three neighbors." I was very polite and said "NO PROBLEM!". I came back in and shut the music completely off and I was so pissed off because it was so low that it was either be on how it was, or turn it off. And she didnt even introduce herself! I have neighbors on both sides so I didnt even know where she lived until I saw her outside the next day! Did I mention the doorbell woke up my daughter? Grr...
Anyways... 12 days later...
Im sitting in my bedroom at midnight listening to her kid SCREAM for the past 4 hours, like he does every night. And every morning. And every afternoon since two days after we moved here.
And I cant turn on my music to drown the sound out because then she will come over and complain.
I cant win. I just can't win...
Lol what part of Colyer, I live in the back and I don't have those issues, but I guess it depends on what part you live in.
I'd play the music anyways, the noise violation is only from 10pm to 6am.
Kristin, do you live in the renovated part of colyer or in the brick part. I guess the only thing really is go talk to her tomorrow, it's hard to complain about crying kids as all of ours do it. But it does get frustrating especially since you are already having issues and just moved in. But turn your music on I guess enough to quiet out the crying a little bit but not drown it out.
We are in the brick part of Colyer. I would go talk to her but there is nothing she can do about a crying baby. It just is ironic I have no choice but to listen to her noise, but I have to turn down my music in the middle of the day when it wasnt even loud! Just venting.. as usual. LOL
Thats awesome.. let me know when you have it if its not a problem. My hubby is home right now.. not sure when he deploys. Hes been training TT teams at Camp Funston foreverrr. But I think they stand up to deploy next month and I think they leave at the end of next year. But who knows.
Yeah I bet they are! We just got a 7 week old puppy on Thursday. You might have seen my post about it.. so yea its been sooo hectic over here! How long have you been at Riley?
Been stationed here since 06' but have only lived on post for about a year. Yeah I read the post, I try not to comment on the pet topics cause everyone is sensative about pets, which is cool but it gets out of hand real quick. I have 2 danes and I would do the same as you did.
Yeah I see it did on mine.. I was like WOW!!! I love Danes.. big dogs! I want a Mastiff but we dont have room for one right now they need a big yard and big house LOL. I like Riley so far.. its a decent base. Whats is your husbands MOS? Mines 13B.. Field Artillery. He wants to re-class to Infanrty though.
He is an Aviation Senior Instructor. He also crews for a UH-60 aka Blackhawks. He has been in 12 years...lol its an ok base its got its ups and downs like every other post...lol
How many bases have you lived at? We havent been here that long and Im already ready to move along.. lol. I wanna travel and live new places.. at the Armys expense. Haha =)
Hey Kristin, my name is Kristen also! Just with an "e" instead of an "i" :) Anyways, I saw that you owned Danes and I was wondering where you got them or if you know of a good breeder there? We PCS to Riley in October and have wanted a Great Dane for a long time. Thanks!
@ Lilmama4 I have a few people I know who breed danes, I actually know someone right now that has a pup for $200 with papers, they just don't have the time to spend on training it with a baby in tote, cause the pup wants to play with the baby. She is 16 weeks, mantle (blk and white). I rescued one of my danes and the other I got from a breeder.
@ Kristin I have been all over the world due to the military, from Germany to Hawaii.
Bad Luck Mommy-Thanks for responding to my comment. I would love to get a Great Dane, but we won't be to Riley until October. Keep me in mind when the time comes though. We're definitely interested in one :) Thanks!
Im not the one who owns Danes.. I have a black lab! Bad Luck Mommy owns two Danes.
Oops! Sorry about that. I must've read the wrong comment and gotten confused.
with the noise issue...if its during the day and not a regular nap time, there shouldnt be an issue. i mean i like having my music on, and i like it loud, but my rule is if its a time of day i wouldnt want someone to do it, then i wont. when we were at ft hood the neighbors would play loud a$$ music from 6am until 2am. it seriously upset me. i went irate on them since the walls between the apts were paper thin. at the time i had a newborn and a 3 year old. it wasnt very nice or respectable. so i decided to be the mean person i am and as soon as their music went off so they could sleep, mine went on. did that for a few days and they got the picture. but mine i couldnt get in trouble for because it was usually during hours i could have it on. and im not one to cause issues and call the cops on anyone unless they are endangering my family or if i feel someones fight is being turned into abuse. which i have seen but the dumb chick bailed him out of jail and he did it again the next day. some women are pretty dumb. but dont stress over making ur neighbors happy. the worst thing that will happen is they dont like u and spread rumors. to me thats fine, its the life of a military wife. so go turn that music on and enjoy ur noise
