My dog Buddy is very sick... he apparently has Hepatitis.. when asked how that happens, the vet told me dogs get that through ingestion...like if he was to eat a carcass or something... we live in the country and Bud man is always in the woods..
I did not know animals could get that.. just wanted you to be aware that this can happen and to be especially vigilant if you live near woods... I for one know if he pulls through this he will not be going in the woods again!!!

Oh My...I pray he will be ok...That is so strange though. Who would have thought that could happen.
I sure hope he pulls out of it. What are they doing for him?

Thanks tm... they are hydrating him as he was dehydrated..he was just drinking yesterday morning... giving him medication... and waiting on results of a bloodtest that was too high to read on office machines.. should have those tomorrow.. They are your kids, ya know... he may cost me my cruise but ya know what? That is fine... I dont need a cruise to know my hubby loves me anyway..

Is he taking antibiotics? Antibiotics don't treat the virus but may be prescribed to ward off secondary bacterial infections

a402...
I am not sure what medications the vet is giving him as he is at vets and I am at work... vet did not say... when I go see him after work I am going to ask...

He's in my prayers. I would be a wreck in anything happened to my German shepherd and she's only in in my life for a few months.

Keep us informed...I would like to know how he is doing....
My sister in law once threw out a raw chicken body, I can't remember how to spell the other word.
Anyways one of my parents dogs ate it, and the dog became septic..They had to take into vet and it pulled thru just fine. Till one day it went pscho and tried to bite my mom. They had to put it down, but the vet said that when it got sick it affected the poor things brain. To this day my SIL feels horrible about it. But she also learned a hard lesson too, now she isn't careless with her trash. She locks it in the safe cage till they take it down the hill.
Oh yeah they live in the country as well.
We run a permanent doggy retirement home out there. The dogs are abused, abandoned, or sickly. People drop them off to us, or try to drown them in our spring. We take them in and give the forever home.
So we are DOGGY LOVAS....

I will tm... I am leaving work in a few and going to go visit my sicky before I head home... I will be strange getting up in the morning and my bud man not being there on my side of the bed..

jls... thank you... it is amazing how apart of the family they become after such a short time... Buddy has been apart of our family for almost 12 years now... and I am sure he will be for longer...

a402...
I love labs...
we once had a black lab..
man that dog was a little hyper.. but
we loved him anyway...

jlstough --- 12 years ago -

My family has always had chocolate labs. We had one named buddy for 15 years before he became ate up with cancer and we put him down. A year later my gramma got another chocolate lab puppy named bud bud pup (buddy number two). He's 7 now and healthy as ever. My grampa passed away in October 2012 and he is the only one to keep my gramma company

Buddy is at home and doing better... he is on two medications and has to go back tomorrow to check his blood levels.. will probably have to go back a couple of times, but that is ok... the doctor said he is more concerned about Buddys anemia than he is about his liver.... so we will see what happens when I take him back on Tuesday... Just soooo glad he is feeling better... he truly is a part of the family... Thanks everyone...
