Please everyone, I am not trying to scare anyone but if you see this guy DO NOT let him in your house and call the police. I have confirmed with a friend who is a police officer in JC that this is not a hoax.

Reposting from Another page. For all of the women in FORT RILEY: There is a man in a Silver Audi that is going around and saying he is "Army Services" wanting to talk to Military Members about "College." He is 5'7", a little bigger, white hair, and blue eyes. The MP's and JCPD are both looking for him, I suspect that he could be doing this to scope out possible break ins. This is NOT spam, I called the police on this man tonight (Sunday), because he showed up on my door step at 8pm. Please be safe and immediately call the police! He could be dangerous, right now that is an undecided factor until the police catch him. THIS IS REAL PEOPLE! Please be safe!
Bridgete Hedge: as well as JUNCTION CITY! THis lady that posted it lives in JC right down the road from me. He has been on post and off. PLease please please be careful! :)

Who lets strangers into their homes anyway?

susanp68 --- 12 years ago -

Apparently people do when they say they are from Army Services.

notsue --- 12 years ago -

If I was expecting Army Services to come over and someone showed up saying they were, then yeah... but if I dont ask anyone to come over, and someone shows up on my door step... it doesnt matter what they are selling, they are not coming in my home.

Garbage Vulture --- 12 years ago -

This is NOT real. There are no reports with the Military Police on Fort Riley about this situation. The Junction City Police have NOT asked for the Fort Riley Police to watch for anyone with this description. While I always encourage everyone to use caution when dealing with any stranger, vendor, or salesperson, repeating rumors here or on facebook only raises the fear factor.

Garbage Vulture --- 12 years ago -

In fact, please message me the name of your friend in the JCPD so I can make an official inquiry into this case.

Gemini09 --- 12 years ago -

It is real actually. I know of 2 women it happen to.

One on post and one off post.

Gemini09 --- 12 years ago -

I guess he told some people he was from Barton too, and they even put a statement out about it.

MissThe80s --- 12 years ago -

Am I the only one wondering if Volture drives a silver Audi?

I kid, I kid...sort of; but, why the conflcting report(s)? Is it safe to guess GV is an MP wanting to correct false information?

Ma Kettle --- 12 years ago -

THIS IS VERY REAL!! I know who wrote this and origionally posted it. It's legit.

susanp68 --- 12 years ago -

It is real and no I don't want to get my friend in any sort of trouble but she confirmed to me that this wasn't a hoax. I wouldn't have posted it without checking it out first.

a4043399uu --- 12 years ago -

i saw another lady post this exact same thing with a different name on the fort rileys facebook page claiming she made the call.
If this were true why didnt fort riley post it, obviously they would have access to the MP's and if it was that dangerous of situation then it would have been posted directly by them.
This reminds me of the one a couple months ago about the rapist

Gemini09 --- 12 years ago -

This one is not like the rapist because it has happened to more then one person.

The rapist thing was an extremely odd story to begin with.

Fort Riley never posts things like this because of privacy issues.

notsue --- 12 years ago -

Still, regardless of whos driving around, and what they are advertising, dont let people in your home... simple solution. You let people in your home when you reached out and contacted them and requested their presence... you dont just allow random people walking by to come into your home.

a4043399uu --- 12 years ago -

It happened to more then one person and they all just happened to call at the exact same time?
And how is it a privacy issue? They would put a statement out saying to be on the look out etc.
Not Jane Doe had a man enter her apartment at 123 Whatever St. claiming to be from Army Services blah blah..
Like the saying goes "if it is on the internet it must be true!"

notsue --- 12 years ago -

They should put out a general reminder... "If you didnt invite someone to your home, dont let them in".

I feel my blood starting to boil thinking about why in the heck this is an issue. Whats wrong with people today? I had a friend whos home was broken into recently, and lots of stuff was taken. Then I asked "How did they get in?" and she said thru an open window. Really? You just leave your house with a window open... When my home was broken into they actually broke a window to get in... Thats something to alert the neighbors about. If you let someone in your house, or leave a door/window open or unlocked and something happens... theres no sense to alert the public unless you want to remind them about basic common sense.

Gemini09 --- 12 years ago -

LoL, the person that it happen it happen to in JC didn't let him in her house.

He knocked on her door at 8:30 at night and said he was from "Army Services" and wanted to talk about education. Then she wasn't thinking and said, her husband was deployed, so he walked away immediately. It scared her, so she posted on Facebook asking about him and if anyone knew what he was about. People got onto her for mentioning her husband was deployed and minds started wondering. Then people started posting the blurb that we see in the original post here. She even posted that blurb the next day herself.

Who knows why it is a privacy issue? I just know that is why they don't put a lot of stuff out.

Now it turns out that this man does in fact go door to door, on post and in JC. He has been for months, and is not trying to scope people's homes out. Apparently, some people say he is "a very nice old man". Whatever, nice old men don't knock on doors that late in the evening. He sounds like a greedy old salesman trying to fool people into letting him sell whatever he is selling, by exaggerating what organization/company he is representing.

~*Kandice*~ --- 12 years ago -

We had a guy do this at Ft. Stewart. He came to our door saying he was there to talk to my husband about education that he had talked to someone that works with my husband and they told him to come to our house and talk about it. He was saying he was there about college stuff and about spouses can get it and then it turned into those baby can read thing. I believe this can happen because people are screwy. The best thing is to make sure you dont let them in your house and to call and report any screwy activity. You should be aware of situations like this and always be prepared and not argue over like a bunch of hens haha.

Sunshine247 --- 12 years ago -

I can say that this is true. This guy showed up on my doorstep last fall actually. He is an older gentleman with smiling eyes and very convincing. However, I told him I wasn't interested and he continued to try to sell me on the whole Army Services school crap...I politely said no thanks and closed the door. He never got over my top step. People are weird nowadays and I never heard of Army Services going door to door before plus he said he was told that we just moved in.....So yea, ya'll be careful.

Jacque28 --- 12 years ago -

If it is the old man you are talking about, he came to our house, also. Both times he came, we were very busy so we didn't even have time to talk to him. He told my husband he was on the Kansas Board of Education and he was doing surveys of people with children in Geary County school district to see how they can work to better the Kansas school system... We were confused, but didn't think anything of it.

susanp68 --- 12 years ago -

Jacque, in light of everything you may want to report this just in case it is the guy they are looking for.

Texas Tornado --- 12 years ago -

well i have 2 razor sharp swords by my front door.. when i answer the door i leave it chained and i have my hubbys razor sharp Machete in my hand resting on my shoulder so the person at the door can see it and be very scared of me.. ive already scared the magazine people off, the mormons off and kirby guy off.. they refuse to come bother me now :) crazy lady with a huge Machete answering the door.. BE AFRAID BE VERY AFRAID BAAHAHAHAHA :)

had the kirby guy try to force the door open while having it chained. i called the cops while he was still standing there told them they didnt come and get him i was gonna gut him like a fish if kept tryin to break my chain off my door.. they showed up within seconds..

bakedbeans --- 12 years ago -

Deja Vu

Tee C --- 12 years ago -

had the kirby guy try to force the door open while having it chained.

That's outrageous. It goes way beyond the term "aggressive salesman". He must be nuts; most people have guns nowadays so there could have been something far worse waiting for him behind the door than a machete.

wifey9089 --- 12 years ago -

That old man came to our house. He's just a salesperson for a company that wants to charge you $100 every year for 20 years for encyclopedias. It's dumb, but he's not trying to rob anyone.

Garbage Vulture --- 12 years ago -

Im not saying the guy didnt come to the door, Im saying the police are not running code 3 looking for any silver audi like a bank was just robbed.

notsue --- 12 years ago -

Exactly.
