Are we done yet --- 13 years ago -

Beware its going around. I took my son it because today is day 3 of having a temp of over 100 at times it has got to as high as 102 they diagnosed him with pneumonia and said this is the 3rd child in a week that has come in with pneumonia. And its not just in kansas... Both my brothers back home (iowa) have also had pneumonia with in the last couple weeks.

Yikes, thanks for sharing! Know what I've seen three of as recently as last night in my home? Ticks! :(

All my pets have their protection, and my home is sparkling clean; so, why do they keep finding and latching on to my son? Argh...

Because when he is outside he is getting ticks and if you have a dog that goes outside your dog could be picking up ticks and brining them into the home and they are jumping on your son. We have been out fishing alot latley and i keep finding them on all of us. ticks are really bad in kansas.

We live in Forsyth and I personally would like to see the grass trimmed back more. My dogs are medicated and don't weigh but 3 and 8 pounds; they have none on them. My son is a teenager. That equals video gaming, eating, sleeping, walking to the shoppette and hanging at the pool. I personally would think he was picking them up walking to the shoppette; but, can't be sure. The first one I saw was coming out from under the carpet (at least that's what I think I saw). I about had a heart attack. The second one had gotten my son's ankle and sock; last night's nipped his "cheek"; poor kid came screaming in my room at 2 a.m. to get it off. Oh my stars, why always when my husband's deployed? LOL. You are right, though, Kansas is bananas when it comes to these evil buggers!

We have that problem, My dogs are fine and dont have ticks (and all they get is flea shampoo when they get a bath no other flea and tick stuff goes on them) but if any one of us go out side in the front yard then we come in with a tick on us. I'm from the south where fleas and ticks are super bad but they are even worse around here.

my son had pneumonia to last week. he was sick for a couple days running a fever and had a rough sounding cough so we took him in and they did chest xrays and low and behold it was pneumonia i couldnt believe it in the summer having it. he goes back in tomorrow to get another chest xray to make sure everything is ok. down in forsyth weve had a few ticks to they mainly stuck on my moms lil tiny dog and 1 on her. luckly she found them pretty much right away, my poor dog doesnt like being outside to much he pottys then comes back in right away.. i use the home defense around my house it helps alot, you would be amazed how many dead ants are in my kitchen its nasty i had to scrub my kitchen.. im so happy to be moving by the end of the month!

Home defense is awesome!!

susanp68 --- 13 years ago -

It is definitely going around. The biggest defense is to stay at home when you are sick. I was at Wal-mart the other day and there was a lady who told me she was just getting over pneumonia sitting on the bench outside of the bathroom. Really? Stay home and get better so you don't make us and our children sick.

Do any of these kids that have had or have the pneumonia go to summer school? I have been doing SOOOO good at my kids not getting anything more then just a cold...NO flu in the last 2 years!!! KNOCKING ON WOOD!!!!

My s on doesnt go to summer school or daycare. Idk about the others. From what i was told and she is probably right. He probably ended up with pneumonia because memorial weekend it was 90's and 100's and then that week it dropped down to 70's it was probably the weather changing that has caused these illnesses.
