Okay. I am opinionated to the nth degree and nothing intrigues me like a good debate--but, um, well...there have been a lot of Bitter Bettys and Angry Annies around the Underground lately. Is it the heat? Stress from a spouse's deployment, frustration with grocery prices, what? I am not saying that we always have peace and harmony here--whoa, far from it. It's just that lately the outbursts have been spastic. Disagreement does not equal dislike, and everything said here shouldn't be taken as a personal insult. I know we have different ages and maturity levels here, but I wonder how some of the folks here get along in the "real world" if things said on a website cause them to scream and weep...

Okay, done, lol.

i think a lot of people release their anger and nastiness here instead of real life lol ... at least thats what i hope and tha they arent truly that mean and rude. I made the mistake of posting my opinion (or thought) on something and got jumped all over lol

I hope it's not the heat... It's not even hot yet...... I'd hate to see what happens when it gets warmer...

I have disagreements with some people, but also agree with them on a lot of things. I think some people have a disagreement with someone and automatically think ill of them or do not like them...kinda odd to me. (oops maybe I shouldn't use the word odd Lol).

Sometimes I think it depends on the topic. Sometimes I completely disagree with someone on one topic and then see that we agree on another thread. I have noticed a select few people that are just randomly having outbursts though. I think it's just to stir drama or see what kind of response they can get. Some people get defensive over the littlest things as well. I'm really not sure how they function in the real world without thinking everyone is attacking them.

Nope. It doesn't matter if it's online or the real world, if I don't like something I will let you know. I will say everyone has a right to their own opinion and can agree to disagree, but sometimes it can get downright ignorant or ridiculous and then I will say something. I don't hide behind my computer.

I think it's ok to disagree with someone or something, but it's all about how you come across. You don't have to be ignorant about it. You have your opinion, that's great. Others have theirs, that's great too. Respect each other's opinions. Don't personally attack someone, because they don't agree with you. There are better ways to handle yourself.

I agree to a point, but I also am not one to sugar coat anything and appreciate others when they do the same. I'd rather have the ugly truth than a pretty lie. I am over 30 and my husband has been in the Army for over 10 yrs. We have 4 kids. I'm too old and too tired to deal with drama and ignorant people.

It's definitely not the heat Tee C lol.

Its Kansas (Fort Riley) ... I swear I have never ran into so many rude people until we got stationed here. Now dont get me wrong not EVERYONE is rude, but theres a great deal more here than any other post we have been too

I have a sense of humor that many do not understand. Therefore I find it hard to be on this board without people taking things soooooooo seriously.

Oh my that is so very true! I've never lived at any other post, since my stepdad got stationed in Topeka, KS (Coast Guard working @ Federal Building) and that is where I lived most of my life. Topeka is less than 1 hour away, but this is almost like a different world here at Ft. Riley! Such rude, phony, and biased (many diff kinds) people - the main reason I've stuck to myself most of the time we've been here.

Agreed, 100%. Fort Riley was our 9th duty station; I thought I had seen it all before 'experiencing' Riley, but they broke the mold with that place. It was almost as if nearly everyone I came into contact with had a permanent chip on their shoulder--to the point where I was surprised if I met someone who was actually kind. And the worst part was that it seemed to be contagious; people with sunny dispositions turned angry after living there for a while, too. I almost wondered if 'angry gas' was being pumped into the air--and that goes for on and off post! There is a dark cloud over that place, I swear it...
