I have a question about Wic . We have been having alot of bills lately and since i am pregnant husband told me to see about wic to help with some of the basics that we buy alot ( milk, cheese, meat etc.)

He is worried about my nutrition and the fact that by the end of the month we are putting nassessities listed above on credit cards so we can have them .

We are wprking on paying off alot of debt including 2 cars ( one is getting sold at end of month) house payment credit cards lights water gass student loans etc.

Husbamd is an e5 if that helps any and we dont have additional kiddos aside from unborn baby A cat and a dog but i know they do not coint for wic purposes lol

The income guidelines are a bit different on Post from what they told me. So I would give them a call to see if you qualify.

It's in the ACS building. When you sign in just go down the hallway on the right. its all the way at the end of the hall, last door on the left. 

No its not. I dont know the building number but if you know where the bowling ally is go as you are going to the bowling ally. You will see a church its in the church's parking lot across from the church.

As an e5 if you dont have any kids and are pregnant with your 1st you probably wont be on wic. We have 2 kids and we almost make too much as e5 to be on wic. We just barly make the guidlines.

yup if you dont try you will never know. you dont have to call to make an appt. Just walk in tell them that you are looking to get wic and they will give you paperwork to fill out then they will make you an appoinment if you meet their guidlines.

I went in and they said that we do not qualify but to look at his les and see what his base Pay is because they were caculating him at 3500 or something and that is not right because his les only says 2800 :/ so i have to call her and tell her like she said and see if we qualify or not 

lol i guess i didnt realize it was the ACS building sorry. yes 2800 is the base pay for an e5 but.......... you have to take into concideration your BAH and some other things. They count all that. Thats probably where they came up with 3500. I know he isnt deployed but if he was deployed they count deployment pay too from what i have been told. 

Yep they count bas and base pay so we were still over by 290 so it looks like it is the bas that threw us over :/ oh well atleast we tried 

You may not qualify while pregnant, but when you actually have the baby you may qualify. I know I didn't qualify when I was pregnant with my first ( I wasn't married then ), but when I had him, I did. A friend of mine tried when she was pregnant, and didn't qualify, but does now that she had her baby too. 

I am not sure because they already count the unborn baby as a kid so instead of two people ( husband and me) i have 3 by wic standards ( me hisband and unborm baby) so i dont know that it would make a difference 7 months from now when baby is born 

Maybe KS is different than other states bc last year I definitely got WIC when my husband was deployed (they did NOT count deployment pay) Also, he was an e-6...so I don't know why you wouldn't be eligible, I also am pretty sure they didn't include BAH...but definitely didn't count deployment pay...and like the other lady suggested, I would try again just in case after the baby is born because the formula is what you are going to really benefit from WIC-that crap is expensive! And little, I called the state of ks wic out of topeka before hubby got deployed becuase i had heard though the great vine that they count deployment pay. They gave me to someone that knew all the military laws and what they count towards wic for pay and i know in the state of ks they do count deployment pay(since the lady that knew all that told me) i dont think they do bah cant remmeber but they do base, deployment, and bas. We almost got kicked because of deployment but we just barely made it as e5 family of 4. (2 kids 2 adults) 

At my lasy appt. I specifically asked and they told me they DO NOT count deployment pay on post. I repeated what they said, and she said it again to make it clear to me. That was in June. I know that the preganancy thing has happened to a few people I know, but I don't know why. 

hmm weird becuase last year the wic office on post told me they did deployment pay so i called the state to confirm and they said the same thing. who know things change maybe its changed since my husband deployed last which was in march of 2010. Dont matter to me he isnt deployed right now and on top of that i only have till next may and i will be off since my son will be 5 and my daughter turned 5 this past may. Could be sooner if hubby gets promoted. rumor has it he is going to e6 schooling and possible board before the end of this year. 

IDK, I thought it was really weird. I will have to talk to them again.
