I just bought my son a powerwheel four wheeler two days ago and someone took it off my front porch and the battery was in the house charging,,,really,, not to mention he has had two bikes stolen previous..it is really frustrating and i am just wondering what these parents say when there child or whoever it is comes home with a new toy..i dont know if calling the mps would even help in this matter

Scottysmom --- 13 years ago -

That absolutely blows me away, that someone (I am guessing, 1 is in the Army or 2 is married to the Army, will walk up to someones porch and steal from a child.. And for that matter ANYONE... Why do people think their child deserves something more than another. What happened to morals and respect and honestly?
I hope you find your sons powerwheel and they catch the scum bag that did it.

Roxanne --- 13 years ago -

I think you should call and also tell picerne I think they have ins for such things

Just bc they're affiliated with the army doesn't make them innocent. Actually seems quite opposite, I know too many guys in the army with bad backgrounds, which is the whole reason they joined in the first place (to clean up) although you'll have those few who relapse, for lack of a better word, into old habits. But look @ that psycho @ ft hood who shot everyone...I'd be nice to think these people were all true good men/women, but it's just not the reality. Either way, I am sorry that this happened! Those are expensive, what a jerk!

You make an excellent point. If a child shows up at home with a brand-new Mongoose, then the parent should have enough common sense to ask where they got it and not take "I borrowed it from a friend" as an answer. In your case though, I'm more inclined to believe that it was an adult; Powerwheels are for smaller children, so I think some parent took it for their child.

Why do people think their child deserves something more than another. What happened to morals and respect and honestly?
I wonder the same thing. I can remember when I was young that if a child stole something and the parent found out, they would take their child back to return the item or work it off if it was broken or used up. There are even parents that make their children stand on street corners and carry signs that say, "I'm Out Here Because I Steal And Need To Be Taught A Lesson". But so many people don't care nowadays, and they'll raise children with the same level of morals they have. Sigh...

Sorry for the long post. Theives are my ultimate pet peeve and theft really gets under my skin.

I pray you get your item back.

You definitely need to call the MP's... Ask the lady who had her bird bath stolen. The MP'S actually found it!

Ottosgirl --- 13 years ago -

Also... Not trying to say you did anything wrong, but people really should think twice about leaving things out. It shouldn't be this way but it is. Good luck... I hope you get it back!

I am not advocating violence at all, but I don't know if I'd be able to keep a level head if I caught someone taking something out of my yard. Let's just say they'd better pray they're a swift runner...

When my 4 year old stole at daycare at the teachers tried to play it off. I had that child feeling so bad by the next day.. He could not wait to get to daycare so he could return these items and apologize. I think I took everything that mattered to him away that night and made him feel in his little heart what it felt like to not have those things.. I pray that did some good for him...

Glad you got it back. This just another reason out of 19575767584843934 reasons why I'm glad I dont live in Forsyth.

Torri --- 13 years ago -

If you get something stolen from on post housing make a report with MPs. There is insurance that pays for it.

What? Wow.

Did the MPs do a report for the theft? Because if they don't do anything about the kid that stole it, all this incident is going to do is teach him that he needs to be sneakier next time so he doesn't get caught.

I completely agree! Even when we lived on post we put our kids things in the garage and locked it every time they were finished playing. It's sad you can't trust people but nowadays you can't so unfortunately if you don't wanna be upset later, put it away.

Cristy --- 13 years ago -

I'm glad you got it back and yes while I agree it was wrong of the child to take it I also agree with the other ladies that things shouldn't be left out if you don't want them taken because sadly that's just the world we live in :/ All my kids toys aside from their large playground are put up in the garage or our house as soon as they are done playing with them because I don't trust someone not to take them and I am not willing to take the chance at having something I have spent my hard earned money on taken. I don't care if I have to bring in every toy myself we just don't leave things outside. Now as for the playground if someone has enough balls to come into my yard and take it I have no problem reporting it stolen and I have also written my last name on the bottom of it in permanent marker just incase :)
