I had my friend dye my hair this last tuesday and I though I would like the color but Noooo! I only color my hair dark auburn cause that is my real color Well this dye came out freaking purple-cherryish FAKE looking! My question is how long do I have to wait to redye it? Its a perm. Dye...I don't want to burn my hair. Is two weeks enough or should I tough it out longer?

coupon mom --- 13 years ago -

i think its 6 weeks or 8 weeks im not sure... if i was u i would seek professional help

autumn --- 13 years ago -

OH I need help alright! All kinds too ;) LOL.. Too bad I spent my fun money already...I may just have to wait 6 weeks...I'm saving the box top and writing BAD on it while saving that top in my hair stuff.

You might can try that Oops stuff that takes the dye out of your hair but I dont know what it does to your hair. If that doesnt work then wash your hair with baby shampoo. For some reason it gets dye out of your hair.

autumn --- 13 years ago -

Thanks Kandice! I'm going to go get baby shampoo...

So u have a perm in your hair too? I definitely would wait if you are gonna fix it yourself, if not, a professional could probably use that remover on you. My personal experience has been, don't keep using box dye if you ever wanna get blonde someday, they say it's super hard to get out.

No I don't have a perm..It was permanit dye but as you can see I can not spell very great so I just put Perm. Dye...

I have also heard that if you wash it with plain Dawn Dish soap it will help strip out the color.

I know they say not to color your hair for x amount if weeks, but I did it twice before and never had a problem. Just dye it again, a darker color. I did it before the same night I went through the same thing. Except I think mine was worst, I have naturally black hair and wanted golden highlights, well looked like someone highlighted me with bleach and streak were everywhere and not in a good way. The crown of my head and bang area took to the color wayyy to much and was yellow. This was about 2-3am, I ran out to Walmart in a beanie cap and bought a darker burgandy shade and had someone do it in the morning. Worked great. Best part was, because of the old streaking color I had before and the color that I got, my hair came out pretty awesome after that and I had dark hair with nice cherry cola highlights. I really loved my hair like that but of course when it came time to re-doing it again with the same color, it was never the same affect LOL.

When I have a botched home color or want to get leftover old color out my hair I just play it safe and go dark brown or black.

I am going in tomorrow for my 3rd color... I got a perm and then a dye 2 weeks after, for some reason it didn't cover the greys at all so she redid it 3 weeks later, 2 days later I found a few greys so tomorrow we are trying again.... I will be done done done if this doesn't work.. I have never had this happen to me before:( Ps my hair is still in decent shape after all this stuff

I also went to a local salon years ago and had my color pretty much washout literally 2-3 days later. Sure some of the color comes out but in my case you ccouln't even tell I had colored it. I spent over $100 bucks and called the salon up and they fixed it right away, no charge of course. But an experience I will never forget.

That is what is happening to me Mami... Its pissing me off... This will be the last try then I am going back to my box... Thinking it might be my hormones:(

Thats horrible for your hair, strips all of the good oils outta your hair and does way more damage.

Thats why I just use baby shampoo haha. Its supposed to do the same thing with the color. It might not get it all out but it will help lighten it a bit where it might look not so dark. If its a red dye it also comes out easier.

Dish soap is great for your hair if you spilled motor oil all in it though.

you would be fine to recolor it color wont fry your hair, bleach does. I been doing hair for 4 years so you good.

Yup I get my hair done and eventually to get all the color out later on I go dark for awhile. But then when I go to a salon to get it done again to something different I always gotta hear it from them about how bad box color is. Works for me though if I want all over color though as long as I stay dark that is. To go lighter I have to go to a professional. For 125-130 bucks my color better be good :)

This will be the last try then I am going back to my box

Hormones? hope it's not another surprise ;)

Bite your tongue...... Oh lord even the thought... I am totally and completely fixed.. Hmmmm but its only been a month since he left for R&R

And on the hair she did do a permanent this time, so I hope it last longer.

Just so you all know my hair stylist rocks! I don't think my hair not taking has anything to do with her or the product she uses.. she has fixed it every time and done a great job.. I LOVE HER.. lol Oh and this time it took :)

Ladies, my hair is falling out because of this thyroid condition. I hope they can fix me soon!
