People so cheap on riley yard sales!? It's not like my stuff is way over priced cuz it's not. I just has a lady e-mail me asking me if I'll take 2.00 for two items. Each are 2.00 a peice really? Im not selling you my stuff to you when your not even paying for the other items your basicly trying to get one thing for free, my stuff is not buy one get one free! Geesh some people! Rant over

DollLikeDeceptions --- 14 years ago -

I put at the top of most of my posts that all my prices are firm, I will not take more pictures and I will not deliver. I STILL get emails asking for me to lower prices! I actually had a lady once ask me to lower my price from 40 to 10 for a set of 3 area rugs because she had a new puppy that was potty training and it would just get ruined anyways

People are funny... when we lived in Cali we had a garage sale once a month, the other weekends we sold at the flea market. We had one neighbor who came to every sale, and we hated him, but were always nice to him. Whatever we were selling he was always gonna cut the price by 75% and everytime we told him no, but he kept at it. It became kinda comical, and I think he was getting a laugh from it too.

I only put firm on some of my stuff cuz I get sick of ppl asking me lower then the price it is. I've been tempted to put firm on all my stuff

I know... a few weeks ago I was selling something for $100 and someone offered me $30. Um, NO! Another woman emailed us that she wanted to buy it, we spoke on the phone with her several times and the night she was picking up, she tries to give us $60. When we informed her the price was $100, she said she only had $60. Didn't even ask us if we'd take $60, just assumed we would if she showed up with it. I told my husband we are not selling anything on Bookoo anymore; too many freakin' loons!

Cate --- 14 years ago -

Oh, and we did NOT sell it to her for $60; someone else bought it the next night for full price.

Camillia --- 14 years ago -

LOL just had that happen on the printer Im selling. The dang thing is 2 months old with an extended warranty and receipt ..this guy was so CHEAP!

Natalie --- 14 years ago -

There was an item on there that I wanted and it was priced for $100. I asked about it and she came back telling me that someone had offered her $60 more than what she was asking and since I had emailed first, she would give me an opportunity to pay or beat that price. The same item new with warrantee is $20 more than that so obviously I declined. It is still for sale:)

Gosh people seriously need to stop being cheap! It's very annoying

notsue --- 14 years ago -

I'm getting tired of seeing that everyone on RYS has hard wood floors (just about). Everytime I see another picture of them I shed a lil tear. I dont care if they are beat up, I want wood floors.

UGrewInMyHeart --- 14 years ago -

I agree, I had recently posted something on there and I put OBO, but the first response I get someone offers me LESS THAN HALF...I'm like really?! But some people's stuff (like my post I made on here) like overpriced Walmart shirts for $5.00+ and items that say "new", but you can clearly see a stain on it in the picture (LOL - those make me laugh) TO ME those kind of items should be nogotiable =)

Liss51 --- 14 years ago -

I just don't get ppl. Like I said earlier my stuff is not buy one get one free

UGrewInMyHeart --- 14 years ago -

lol - yeah RYS isn't the local store ad - BYG1 lol

Liss51 --- 14 years ago -

Lol it really cracks me up were ppl get off asking me the cheap prices they do

We were selling a complete hunting bow set. Case, bow, arrows, arrowheads for like 150. And some one offered us 30. The plastic case for the bow was 40 by itself. I just laughed at him. People are so so cheap on there. And craigslist is full of scammers so that place sucks too!

Liss51 --- 14 years ago -

I started putting no spam please on my craigslist items seems to do the trick

Tee C --- 14 years ago -

How many of you (who have sold items) actually respond to el cheapo offers? I sold some things last spring and entertained them with a "No, thank you" at first but after a while I felt insulted and didn't even waste my energy.

~*Kandice*~ --- 14 years ago -

I try to email them back just to be nice. I have been a witch though and just wrote back "hahahahhahahaha...um no" on some that are just super super low but for the most part I try to say "No sorry" if I can.

Liss51 --- 14 years ago -

@ Tee C like the lady that e-mailed me?

@ Tee C like the lady that e-mailed me?

Yes. Did you tell her that her offer was insulting or did you not respond at all?

LoveMyFamily --- 14 years ago -

When I sell something on RYS I always put in my ad
FIRM, cash only
will not call, text, deliver or hold
pick up is on post

I don't care if I sound like a royal b!tch but I'm tired of playing games with people on there.

I'll be honest: When I first started using Riley Yard Sales about a year ago, I thought posts worded the way you wrote above were rude; after actually selling items there myself, I changed my opinion. Buyers can really be inconsiderate and insulting. No lady, I most certainly will not lower the price of the nearly $300 dollar faucet I have listed for sale for only $40 because you "need it and can't afford to pay more than $10". Some people's gall is just amazing.

LoveMyFamily --- 14 years ago -

I'm sure a lot of people think Im rude but I'm not, just tired of playing peoples games. This isn't lets make a deal, I never over price my things, I price them the way I would want to buy something at a yard sale. Example I just bought a woolrich rug last month for 25 dollars from target for my kitchen, I had it laid down for 3 days and decided it didn't match my kitchen so I washed it, then listed it for 1 dollar and I actually had a lady email me and tell me if im asking only a dollar that I should just be giving it away lol.

Some people have an outrageous sense of entitlement. I'd have emailed her back and said, "Well I didn't ask you for your opinion, so you should give me 10 bucks for wasting my time :)."
