DD2008 --- 14 years ago -

wasssuuuuppp --- 14 years ago -

WALMART has em i have 2 one on our car and one on our truck there both heavy duty and long so when the butt heads wanna tailgate or park to close they hit the hitchs instead of my vehicles :)

in kansas you cant leave the hitch on anymore ...we got pulled over and were told that would be our only warning ..so be careful ...to get a receiver put on is kinda pricey ...does it already have the receiver or do you need that too ...the receiver for the hitch can be around 150 at walmart if you just need the hitch part thats pretty cheap...( the receiver is the peice under the tailgate ..the hitch is the peice that comes on and off with the ball on the end!!) just incase you wasnt sure !

Never heard that and we grew up in se ks. And have always left ours on and every one I know does too, never had a problem with it.

I believe this is the rule in Texas too... basically if you arent using the ball, you need to remove it.

been here in ks for a little over a yr now.. hubby got pulled over for speeding 3 times already and they never said anything about our hitches..

only thing he didnt like about our truck was the lisence plate had tinted plastic on it. said we had to take it off..

you guys are lucky then cause he said its a 100 dollar fine !! it was a state trooper that pulled us over

Cate --- 14 years ago -

Depending on the year of your vehicle, and warranty coverage, you might want to check with a Chevy dealer. We had one put on our van last year, our vehicle is a 2008, at the dealer so that it was covered. With all the traveling we do, we didn't want to risk having something go wrong and it being on our dime instead of the dealers.

Rubies87 --- 14 years ago -

state trooper was just bored and looking for something to do.
I hate when it just has to be you that gets pulled over. We had a tail-light cover broken but three cars in front of us had a headlight out and we are the ones to get pulled over...

My husband was given a warning when we first moved here quite literally for spending too much time in the left lane. I'm not even kidding.

thats a law everywhere. technically the left lane is for passing and if you are in it for more then a certain mileage then you CAN get pulled over. for truckers its a BIG no-no bc alot of them pull out and ride side by side just to back up traffic and i believe for them after 5 miles if they havent passed anyone then they have to pull back in line.

if im not mistaken i believe this only applies to a certain yr and up...same with stacks...you can be ticketed if you have a newer truck and blow alot of smoke.

LovinLife824 --- 14 years ago -

Maryland doesn't have a left lane is passing law. That's quite obvious as you drive through the state. Everyone thinks they own it, from the speeders to slow ones. Makes driving quite frustrating.

Redneck Martha Stewart --- 14 years ago -

very rarely will you get pulled over bc of the whole left lane thing...ive had a cop follow me for miles in the left lane and never flashed his lights...i guess it depends on the mood of the cop and if he needs to meet quota quickly.

bc alot of them pull out and ride side by side just to back up traffic

Trucks dont ride side by side just to ruin your day. Many company trucks have speed governors on them and they are not all set to the same speed. Company A's truck will be set to 64MPH, and Company B's truck is set at 62MPH. Company A will catch up to Company B eventually and will want to pass so that they dont have to slow down. When you are going so close in speed, but a hairs difference, it takes longer to pass. If you throw a hill into the mix, everything changes depending on how much of a load they are pulling.

To think they'd just want to hold up traffic has to be the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. We get paid by the mile, there for we want to move as many miles as we can before our day is up. We have to run a log and can only be on the road for a certain number of hours in a certain period of time, why would we want to purposely go slow and hold up traffic... think its just fun for us to be out there? Please, we wanna get home to our familys.

As far as all the other things people arent happy about being stopped for, get over it. It is sad that the important things arent better enforced, but half the problem prolly is that there are too many rules. Everytime someone has a problem, they make a new law instead of realizing that we already have laws that would cover the problem. Cell phones is a good example, we dont need laws banning cell phones while driving because we already have laws banning any distractions while driving. But whatever, this countrys a mess and gets worse everyday.

wow i didnt say "all of them" or "thats all they do" ive been on the road truckdriving so theres really no need to preach to me about what its like. ive played the cb game and yes there are a few out there who will do that just to p*ss someone off and back up traffic. ive done logbooks out the a$$ and know all of DOT's regulations so yea...you could call me a truckdriver...not all of them are sweet as pie. i was just using an example bc someone had mentioned the whole leftlane stuff and i was using truckdrivers as an example.

notsue --- 14 years ago -

Thats fine, but I disagree, I've spent plenty of miles on the road, and nobody has ever been over there on purpose when I've been around. Never once heard a driver say "I"m gonna block the left lane just to cause a traffic problem". Doesnt mean it doesnt happen, just means I cant agree with you because I havent seen it. Now if you wanna talk about blocking the shoulder, or the lane thats about to close, different story. We do that on purpose but its because traffic will end up moving slower if you let those last minute idiots go by.

Redneck Martha Stewart --- 14 years ago -

i can say that ive never heard that but have plenty of times seen a driver move over then start talking about how long he can keep his spot.

even the short dinky trips ive seen people do it then you get the punk kids who happen to have a cb get on...thats one thing i hate...lol

weve all seen different things and bc one person hasnt seen it doesnt make it unreal or dumb. was just expressing my expiriences
