Now? Unfortunately not a lot. We've been riding this roller coaster for a long time and it seems that core Army values have gone to pot since my husband and I joined. Whether you blame it on being understrength and lowering standards to raise quotas, the slow but steady degridation of the NCO Corps, failure to uphold policy or the Army selling a lion's share of its most important quality of life responsibilities off to private contracting, the Army just doesn't measure up to the same standards they had just 15 years ago. And it's heartbreaking.
