if it was me and he wanted out i would let him out ...he probably wants to cool off some since hes probably hot with all that fur indoors. and if anyone comes around saying why is he out in the weather ....me being me i would probably just say look hes a st bernard and he wanted out end of story. bring him back in so he can get water and what abuse can they claim?

I have a husky and he's been wanting to stay out there. I let my little dogs in and he is usually out there laying in the snow. I just check on him often to make sure he doesnt want to come in. My dog has fur and is made for this kind of weather. I would just check on him often, if he's happy than thats all that matters. It would be neglect if he didnt have any shelter out there to get out of the cold.

I think it depends a lot on the breed. Dogs like the ones mentioned above are meant for cold weather, it would be worse for them in 90 degrees than -7. Also, I think they take into consideration if food/water is available and some sort of shelter.

ok cool because he is going nuts being stuck inside, yes he is hot, hes just walking around panting. i keep giving him water but thats not helping.

MOgirl --- 14 years ago -

yes he has one of those igloo houses and a big bowl of water

ever since that story the other day about someones dog getting stabbed, now i worry about that also when i leave him out there. ugh.

I have a beagle and she loves being outside. Even if its freezing or snowy. She will stay out there a good hour before she ask to come in.

And kinda weird but when i let her in the other night she was warm even though it was so cold out. Thought it was kinda neat.

Maybe she's a shape shifter or a were wolf hehe!

I have a basset hound and she loves being out just so she can sniff around and follow trails of animals/birds that have had the courage to land in the yard ....as shes my ferocious(sp) hunter and loves tracking ..most animals have the good sense to not come tunnel up in our yard or land when shes out but they do when shes inside and once outside to do her biz...shes all over where they have been you can almost see the regret in her eyes for not being outside to get those pesky intruders who came into her territory lol

hope- thats too funny!!! my dog is more of a social butterfly, he loves other animals and dislikes people, he dont even like my husband, but loves my other dog,cat and 2 kids. he thinks the cat is his baby and he "cleans" the cat everyday. its soo funny. the cat hates it because the dog soaks him, but the cat dont fight him or try to get away! lol

I have a boxer and even though it is freezing outside, at times he just wants to go outside so he can run around and i let him

LMAO Torri! My 2 boxers are doing that now that the weather is so cold! They like the snow, but only when it is hovering at 32 degrees! My older one won't even get off the couch sometimes, we have to make her go outside!

Speaking of dogs being outside... Yesterday I went to JC and on the corner of Jackson St and Elm St there was a black dog sitting in the back yard in the snow. We just drove by but that caught my attention and I wondered if the dog was being left outside lastnight in the negitive degree temps, I pray not.
