No school tomorrow for USD 475. It was nice to get the text tonight!!!

Thank God. I normally don't keep our daughter home, but if there had been school tomorrow she would have stayed put. The roads are still not perfect here in JC, and the wind would make it really hard for her to walk home. 

Not that it effects me becuase my kids dont go to regular school they are in preschool at cdc. but it took them long enough to call it off. Im suprised they didnt call it off sooner concidering i havent seen a snow plow out today on post and i live right next to jackson which is one of the main streets they get cleared right away. 

I had a plow drive by twice on Burnside, what I havent seen tho is anyone in my parking lot, cept for people who live here, and three of them got stuck, and three have slide on the ice. And I'm not even sitting here lookin out the window all day... I just keep walkin by a window on my way to do something :) 

I wish my child's school did the text thing. 

Thanks for the info. Glad the kids are able to stay in it's just too cold and slick out there. I saw the plow truck come down my street 3 times today in Warner Heights off of Jackson st. I keept an eye out for the truck because I had to run to the commissary tonight and wanted to make sure them plowers were out:) 

3 days in a row is CRAZY for KS...they called my husband this morning at 630 to tell him that work is called off.. its not even really that bad out..its super cold so i dont think i would have sent my kids to school beacuse they walk..the hugh today is gonna be like 11 but with the windchill its gonna be in the -'s....brrrrr 

We went to walmart out in Manhattan. Last night and it was not bad at all the only thing that made it hard was the wind but we mad it fine no problems the hardest part was getting the car back in the garage lol 

Wonder if there will be school tomorrow? 

No telling! We'll probably find out about 6am tomorrow morning. I am breaking out the hubbies dickies coveralls to go get my kiddos today. (It's the closest thing to a snow suit I have) It is brutally cold out there. 

There will probably be school tomorrow... it is supposed to quit snowing tonite I think... 

so does that mean Junction city high school is close tomorrow

No news about tomorrow yet. I am signed up for text messaging with 475....hoping if they do decide to close tomorrow...they will send a message tonight.

aww thanks Jazzy , but at least the kids wont be freezing tomarrow waiting for me and they will be safe at home away from the crazy drivers
so I will take that over more of a paycheck anyday.

I got am email yesterday late saying that we could use 2 family days for part of the 6 days we have now had off...that is if you work for the district, which I assumed you did... 

I got the same info about being able to use our family days for the snow days as well and personally, I think its crap. Those are FAMILY DAYS for a reason. As a wife of a deployed soldier, I have had to use my family days already for my daughter when she was sick, so that leaves many people with no option. We just loose the money. I didnt call out of work, I didn't say I wouldn't come in... They closed the schools (for good reason, but still) but they should be paying at least SOMETHING. It's not really fair.. plus we have a teacher plan day coming up in another week so thats ANOTHER day that support staff will not be getting paid for. Luckily for me, I am financially in a position where my check is our savings, but I know many people in my school where this is their sole income and it's just not fair. Just my opinion, but I guess it's just how it goes when you work in a school. And thankfully I work with great people and love my job so that makes the money part a SMIDGE easier to handle. 

Yep.. my dad lives with us and he takes up all my family days and then some...so I couldnt take them if I wanted to.... but that is ok since I wasnt taking them anyway.... and I am not going to use vacation days on them...oh nooo.....I will just be out the money... but I know all cant do that and it will be a hardship on some...but I to work with great people and I love my job also... and that helps!!! 

@ proud , no I don't work for the district, they contract all most all their drivers there for we do not get the same benefits as district workers. But I am still ok with that considering how dangerous it was yesterday I would rather not chance it with kids. I am by no means well to do, but I know how to do well, lol so it's all good :)
