so weve been trying to end our service with centurylink for awhile now. everytime we call they give us a differ date that it supposedly ends or someother contract that we never agreed to just to charge you. we were suppose to be able to cancel our service today so we called and now i guess there is this magic contract for something with the internet holding us up, seriously wtf we dont like the service and just want to end it. ever since centurylink took over our bill has gone up to 181, with embarq it was 105 tops, they tax u in every way possible. we pay like 45 just for the phone 29 for voice mail and what not, 15 for long distance then if you look at the tax its an additional 15 for tax on long distance 9 additional for the phone and 5 for the voicemail, our taxes alone are 30 bucks no joke. this is crazy how much ppl can charge for stuff so we got blackberrys to have internet on our phones and then the phone so we wouldnt need the other stuff and now we are just getting the run around this is bs. i highly recommend anyone who has centurylink to really watch ur bill they get crazy stupid with there prices..

Im sorry you are having problems. I have never had problems with them in over a year i have had them. My bill has always been the same nor does anyone i know that has them or has had them has had problems. I personallly like them.

militarybrat --- 15 years ago -

I am sorry to I have had them for almost two years when it was embarq and now centry link and never had a problem with them. My bill has never gone up or they have never messed anything up. If I had a problem they fixed it in a timely manner with no issues.

had them for two years now and my bill has always been the same even when they switched, never had any problems. sorry your having problems though.

Blondie --- 15 years ago -

I had problems with them when I had embarq and they switched over to century link. My bill also went up and they added charges that I never received with embarq. I'm so glad I switched to allegiance.

Thats why I use Allegience

I have had Embarq since I have lived on Ft. Riley for almost 2.5 years and I LOVE them...My bill has always been the same and when they switched to Century Link I was able to disconnect my home phone line and upgrade my internet and upgrade my Dish Network package and pay $75 LESS than I was paying...although I had to sign a year contract to get the faster internet but with the hubby deploying again, I knew I would be here the year....so for the fastest internet, the biggest package on Dish, I pay all but $100 a month!!!!!!

Blondie --- 15 years ago -

With Embarq they had told us that we needed our landline to have the internet, once they switched to Century Link they still told us the same thing which I think is a bunch of crap. I don't trust them.

Lexie --- 15 years ago -

I believe that it depends on the area that you live in whether or not you have to have your land line, but I am not sure, I just called them and told them my address and they told me that I didn't need the land line due to the new housing having fiber optic internet....I know with Embarq and when I lived on top of the hill we had to have the land line...I really don't think one company can satisfy everyone and someone will always have something bad to say about one, it is just a matter of opinions!!!

we haven't had any problems w/ centurylink. we gave them our 30 day notice when it came time since we are moving at the end of this week [pain in my @ss lol] and have had no problems w/ that either.

Blondie --- 15 years ago -

When I had century link my internet would shut off several times a day at least every other day and they couldn't figure out why. We went through several expensive routers thinking it was our fault but it wasn't. They couldn't find a solution so we cancelled them. We had them since we moved in here for 2yrs. Since we've had allegience we haven't had any issues and the internet is way faster.

Thanks for posting. Right now we are with Centurylink for only internet because it seemed like a better deal than Allegiance. But the service has been TERRIBLE. They keep blaming it on their modems, saying "it must be a faulty modem". So we have gone to trade our modem in for a new one 4 TIMES now and guess what? Service still sucks!! It is constantly cutting in and out and it's impossible for me and my hubby to be online at the same time. I really want to switch over to Allegiance just to see if they are any better. At this point I don't think it could get much worse! I sure miss Cox. That's what we had when we lived off post =/

Candace-you said that you and your husband can't be on at the same time...Do you have a wireless router also? Because I have the centry link and me and my husband are able to have both laptops up and running and our PS3 all at the same time with no problems. plus we have the main computer that it is hooked to that we just dont use. I am sorry you have to deal with this

Blondie --- 15 years ago -

With Allegiance we have the gamer's internet, we can download things on both our computers at lightening speed all the while we are both playing online games on our 2 PS3s. I'm totally in love with them.

BadLuckMommy --- 15 years ago -

I'm with Blondie, I have my two laptops, desktop, and 2 PS3's and have had no problems. I have a wireless router and a regular modem for my desktop. Have never had an issue and I have been with them for Almost 3 years. My bill has never been more then $110 and that's including cable all throughout my home. I ♥ them :)

Candace --- 15 years ago -

danielle- Yes we have a router, but we are currently using it because the last modem they gave us is supposed to be a modem/router combined. It runs just about the same as it did when we had a regular modem AND a router..crappy. What is this gamers internet about?? We do run an xbox 360 in our house too. Is it expensive??

Blondie --- 15 years ago -

That's because they have crappy service, plain and simple.
